About Me

My name is Gloria Adhiambo, I am born third in a family of six children, two brothers and 3 sisters. My both parents are alive and stay at home.I started school when I was three years age. I finished primary school and joined secondary school. Currently I am doing my business and looking forward to join college in May this year.

My parents taught me how to live an independent life. I am lived to be independent since I finished high school. It was not such easy making transition from school to living outside the school environments. My parents provided my needs in school but after school they gave me room to exercise my freedom in managing my life. Since then I can say that I have done it and I am on the pathway to success. My elder sister is an expert in braiding hair and she taught me to braid hair since I was in primary school. I have practiced for a long time until I am now an expert too in braiding hair. When I was done with secondary school I thought of a type business I can do but I thought of braiding hair. I started braiding from home, starting from my friends who in turn were paying me. I kept money in bits until I managed to hire blow dry machine. I kept working from home until I had enough money to buy a small blow dry machine, few types of hair weaves and hair food oils. This is how I came to start my Salon business.

In my culture, the cultural food is fish. People do eat fish both the head and the tail, even their intestines. In short, we eat the whole fish without getting rid of some other parts of fish. Do this is abomination to the culture. My people live near Lake Victoria in Kenya. Since the eating of the whole fish is not applicable to other cultures. As a result, this makes my culture unique and interesting from other cultures.

For my children, I would like them to engage in big businesses when they grow old because the jobs in the offices are getting competitive and I do not want them to be desperate when they grow old. Poverty is rampant and I do not want my children wallow in poverty.

My Business

I do major in beauty. In my Salon shop business I do braid hair of different styles, I do buy weaves of different types as per my customers tastes and preferences. I do offer blow dry services in my salon, though my blow dry machine is small and intending to buy a bigger one, the business is generating income though little. I also use different types of hair-food to apply to the hair of my customers. This makes my customers to like my salon shop because they go home happy. I do this job passionately and lovingly. My customers wish is my duty or priority.

I benefit tremendously from the salon shop business. I do manage to cater for my daily needs and I assist my siblings in their school paying school fees. My customers benefit from my business because they do not have to spend lots of money going traveling to town to braid hair. My salon shop is at the central point where many people can come on foot.

In a month, I approximately spend $70 for expenses and I do generate an income of $50 in a month. This is good but there is room for making an income more than $50. I use my revenue that I generate from salon shop to cater for my daily needs such as clothing, transport, rent, food and school fees for my siblings.

Loan Proposal

i will use the money that you will give to purchase the following for my salon shop business: I will buy 10 hair weaves that will cost me $20, hair food that will cost me $10, and 1 big blow dry machine that will cost me $20. These materials will generate an income of $50 to $60. I will use this revenue to pay for my weekly loan repayments. I will also reinvest this money to the business and to cater for my daily needs such as clothing, transport, rent, food and school fees for my siblings.

This benefits greatly. I do manage to cater for my daily needs and I assist my siblings in their school paying school fees. For customers, they benefit from my business because they do not have to spend lots of money going traveling to town to braid hair.

I expect that my profit will increase at 50%. This will significantly expand my business and generate more income for my business.
