About Me

Hello to you all. My name is Susan Njeri Gitau, l was born in 1982 in Nakuru District , Bahati Division, Kabatini Sub-location in Kenya. l come from a very humble Christian family and background. In the family of the late Mr. James Gitau and the late Mrs Rachel Gitau as the eighth born. My elder siblings are all married and moved to other towns. l am also married to a very handsome husband and have one baby boy aged 1 year and 3 months. In 1989 I joined Umoja primary school and completed in 1996 and got my primary school certificate. In 1997 l joined Bavuni secondary school and completed it 2000. Later I joined Rift Valley College of Beauty & Hairdressing for a two year course and completed it in June 2003. After college I got an employment chance to work in a salon called Machris Salon & Beauty Parlor in town for a period of 2 years, i.e from 2004 to 2006, where I got a chance to save money towards the capital to start my own Beauty & Cosmetics Shop.

My Business

I opened my shop in February 2006 at a place called Umoja 2 Estate, lanet Nakuru, Kenya, as I wanted to become my own boss and become financially stable. The business has been favoured by its location where upcoming houses are being constructed and residential estates that are around the place. Since l started this business, l have been buying the goods/cosmetics every first week of the month in Nairobi,Kenya at a very reasonable price.
The business is profitable, by buying in wholesale enables me to sell to the local saloons and the community at a reasonable price, something they prefer rather than going to town and this is a big boost to my business. My business is registered with the Municipal Council of Nakuru, where I acquired a business permit certificate which enables me to run my business in this area.
On average my business makes up to USD 315 in sales revenue, the house rent is USD 50, electricity bill USD 9, garbage collection and water USD 8 and security USD 11, which leaves me with a profit of USD 237.
With this loan I will be able to add more stock to my cosmetics shop to make it a one stop shop in the area, so that whatever a customer requires will be available and that will enable me to make good returns. My next plan will be to open another chain of Cosmetic Shop and create employment opportunities for the local youths and help them become financially stable. It is my humble request and prayer that Zidisha Team will consider my application and approve the loan pledge requested. Thank you all.

Loan Proposal

My appreciation to all lenders and Zidisha team for granting me another chance to grow in business, my previous loan helped me a lot as I bought more goods for my beauty shop and was able to progress and repay my loan well. I was able to save adequately and pay my bills as well. With this loan I will buy more extension hairs at USD 50, shampoo at USD 45, body lotion at USD 25 and hair conditioners at a cost of USD 25 in order to continue serving my clients well in this area.
This will help my business so much because I sell wholesale goods to my customers, i.e local saloons and the community, at a very reasonable price, which will give me good returns so that I will be able to pay my loan, my bills and also increase my savings. Thanks a lot, I welcome lenders to fund my account. God Bless You
