About Me

Civilization should have come earlier
I come from the vast Akamba land plateau commonly referred to as eastern province. It is the province hosting kitui where the law of gravity is virtually inverted. When you pour water instead of running downstream it goes uphill. People have always failed to explain the phenomenon claiming it’s the superstition activities of the elders of that region. The Akamba community which I come from is feared in Kenya because people claim they perform witchcraft. However I came to find out that a person who doesn’t believe in something will settle on anything.
The people in our rural community have a very slight idea on how people in cities live. I remember arriving one holiday wearing a pair of jeans trousers and it became the talk of the village. My uncle told me that people who wear spectacles are learned people and it is a belief in the entire region. One time when my sister was getting married-the traditional wedding my uncle wanted to wear spectacle so that the in laws will assume he was learned. There were no spectacles around and I only had a frame which had no lenses. I gave him and he never noticed any difference. He wore them for the entire ceremony and I remember laughing every time our eyes met. He misinterpreted my laughter and thought I was happy because he looked cool. Since he was a person who loved attention he kept on walking around assuming to be busy so that people notice him. We ended up being ridiculed because our in laws came from the city.
I want to transform the place where technology is at its lowest and Steve jobs would actually feel embarrassed knowing his products is not known in some parts of the world. We however boast the most deep cultural tradition in Kenya unmatched by the 44 tribes of the nation.

My Business

Fruits are an important aspect of our diet. The project of selling fruits came up to my mind when I saw the millennium development goals of sub Saharan Africa. Eradicating malnutrition and disease formed the headlines while we actually have the natural solution for everything.
My fruit business will be supplemented by having a juice parlour in town. Where people will enjoy natural affordable fresh juice in kitui town. I am planning to buy fruits from wholesale vendors in town and sell them in retail. I have identified schools where I am targeting a tender to supply fruits daily to supplement the diet of school going kids. Iam targeting the younger kids in primary school since they are the most vulnerable to malnutrition.
I will repay my loans from the weekly income I collect from these schools. I will also re invest my profits to the business so that I plant fruits in my portion of land . I will in the long run be selling fruits direct from my farm and inspire a generation.
I am targeting mangoes, bananas and oranges which are available in the county market. I will sell from my stall in town and also supply local schools. I am intending to also set up a website to make my business credible to potential schools.
I will use part of my profit to educate my cousins in the long run because their parents never took education as a necessity and by doing so I will transform Africa one mind at a time

Loan Proposal

Given this loan I will purchase an initial bale of fruits to run my business for the first day because the schools I supply pay after one day. I need fruits worth 2000 kes an equivalent of around 22 dollars. I will fuel the van using 8 dollars and the remaining part of loan I will upload my website so that I can make my business credible and also attract potential customers. The website will enable me market my products and interact with customers and get their feedback.
The loan will help me improve my business by making me comfortable in supplying my customers. I will in turn help many children gain a healthy diet and be part of attaining the millennium development goals by eradicating malnutrition in the continent.
I will repay my loan in time to apply for another one to establish the foundation for my dreams which will help transform Africa one mind at a time in coming future. My desire is to own a fresh juice parlour in town and my journey starts with one step
