About Me

Kamiri is a 25 year old man born an raised in Kimende. He is a born again Christian attending Redeemed Gospel Church Bathi branch. I am a form four leaver and currently a motorbike rider in Kimende township. I started the business 8 months ago as a source of livelihood for me and my family due lack of employment and because I was not able to proceed to college level. On a good day I make Ksh 1000 and there are some days I make 300 especially when it is raining. I like singing and I am a choir member at my church. I can play a guitar as well.

My Business

I a motorbike operator making an average of $ 250 per month. Most of my earnings go into my savings account because I want to venture in green house farming hopefully by next year. The rest goes into maintenance of my motorbike and some towards my personal expenditures such as food and clothing. The need for motorbike services is essential since they are cheap and readily available. Although the money is not much, you can be guaranteed to make something as long as your motorbike is in good condition. It is with this confidence and optimism that I am applying for a Zidisha account since I will be in position to repay my loan when my account is approved.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders,

The reason for seeking this loan is to buy a comprehensive insurance for my bike, an extra helmet and two tires. This will help me and my business in a number of ways.

1. It will help me ferry customers far off from Kimende without the fear of being harassed by policemen for lack of insurance.
2. The helmet will ensure my customers safety, thus they will be more comfortable seeking my services.
3. The tires will ensure that my bike can cut across the roughest of local terrain without the fear of a puncture.

Currently, I am not in a position to ferry customers outside of Kimende town due to lack of Insurance. Sometimes I'm forced to refer customers to my fellow riders since taking a risk of ferrying customers to far off destinations without insurance can have very serious consequences if you're flagged down by a policeman. Usually such customers pay more and I end up losing money. However with an insurance cover, I can ferry customers to the nearby towns comfortably and this means an increase in income. When I have more money, I can invest in other ventures like commercial farming. As we get into the festive season, the number of customers seeking the services I offer will increase and I stand to make more money when I have an insurance for my bike. With the current income, I will be able to service the loan comfortably.

Yours, John Kamiri Mbogo.
