My name is Delice Osuri, I am born second in a family of three children, one brother and one sister. My both parents are alive and stay at home.I started school when I was three years age. I finished primary school and joined secondary school, currently I am a part time student at Kabarak University.
My parents taught me how to face challenges with maturity and overcome every difficult situation. My parents tried their best to pay for my university studies unfortunately they could not make to pay for my daily expenses. Sometimes they try but quite often they do not because they do not work. When they do farming of planting maize they wait until they sell at the end of the year. With this mind I had to use my talent which is braiding hair. I started introducing myself to my colleagues in the university that I had the capacity to braid hair. Gradually I had friends and friends of my friends coming to me, I had many people until I decided to open a salon shop near the school. This is how I came to start my own business.
In my culture, people like eating fish. They do eat fish both the head and the tail, even their intestines. In short, we eat the whole fish without getting rid of some other parts. This eating of the whole fish is not applicable to other cultures. Thus making my culture unique and interesting in its own way.
I would like my children to engage in business when they grow old because the jobs in the offices are getting competitive and I do not want them to feel desperate when they grow old. I will nurture them to have business mentality so that they can own their own business and employ others in future.
In my Salon shop business I do braid hair of different styles, I do buy weaves of different types to suit my customers and when they come I braid them. I also bought a blow dry machine so that others do not braid their hair but they blow dry. However my machine is very small and I would like to get funds and I buy another machine. I also use different types of hair-food to apply to the hair of my customers and I also sell to them, I buy hair-food in large quantity, in wholesale price and recommend to my consumers to buy, and I sell to them in retail price.
I approximate get $110 in a month, and I deduct the expenses of $60,thus I remain with the revenue of $50. I use this money to cater for my daily needs such as transport, hostel fee, rent for my salon shop, food and clothing.
I will use the money that you will give it me to buy a new blow dry machine that cost $10, I will buy 20 hair-foods oil that will cost $20 and I will buy 10 hair weaves for braiding that will cost $20. With these stock I will make a good revenue. After I sell all the stock I have stated I will accrue a profit of $50 to $60.
I will use the revenue to pay my weekly repayments for the loans and I will use the revenue to cater for my daily needs such as transport, food, clothing and rent. For my customers who the majority of them are my college mates they will benefit a lot. This is because I have put a salon shop near the university so they do not need to travel to town. This benefits them because they will save money that they would have used traveling to town to braid hair. They also have access to hair-foods and this makes things easier for them because they come at any time of the day to buy them.
I do expect my business to increase its business by 50% by the end of the month once I receive the loans., thus bringing me a revenue of $50 to $80. I will make sure that my customers do not lack the necessary things in my salon shop.
