About Me
my name is grace shungulla.i come from voi in the Kenyan coast. But I live in mtwapa where iam married though am a widow now after losing my husband two years ago. iam blessed with six children 2 are working. Am employed as an agricultural officer in junju location kilifi county.. Due to my interaction with the community I have found a lot poverty in the villages due to HIV SCOURGE, lack of education, political stability and unreliable weather patterns . I started a home for the orphans and vulnerable children, I run it with my salary as well as farming activity and by the grace of God is improving.
My Business
. After deep thought I realized these kids need education I decided to register a school which is based in the same compound with the home. We have classes from baby class to grade 6. We currently have 30 children but 6 are boarding others are on outreach program. We currently have challenges in feeding the kids, providing boarding facilities for them as well as medical attention. We survive on my salary, well-wishers a few pupils who are able to pay a little levy not forgetting that the proceeds from farming activities help in feeding them. I currently have the school which is raising some income of about $150 which we use to buy food and pay salaries. Virtually nothing is left but is sustaining at times. My main expenses are learning materils salaries and feeding.
my loan
since we have a school we are experiencing shortage of seats so we are hoping to get a zidisha loan to purchase about 30 plastic chairs that will coast about $ 110 so we are hoping to sooner we get the chairs the school will be able to attract new and a bit able pupils to support the orphans and vulnerable as an income generating program. i will use my salary to repay the loan.
