About Me

Worked for a Supply Chain Company for over 15 years. I have experience and skill on Warehousing, Distribution, Logistic and Transportation. This year I started my own Business - Grains and Cereals Supply chain. Core goal being management of grains from the source who are the farmers to distributors/consumers.

My Business

Currently my business 'Grains Cereals Supply chain' deal with handpicking foreign matter on grains and selling them through a my retail shop at my home area.
Business Mission being:
To provide best low cost on transportation and warehousing solution for clean grains and cereals to our customers, and door to door delivering. "Wash and Cook"
In the current resent months I reused the profits to increase my stock. But due to increase on products demand it has increase the cost of supply due to transport cost buying small quantity due to lack of adequate capital. The product turnaround has increased by 100% after moving into a new shop near a bus stop. Which I positive it will increase more if I advertise my shop.
Goal: 1. working on how to get cheap logistic solution of cereals/grains from suppliers
2. In future own a pickup or a van

Loan Proposal

With the loan I will buy
7 sacks of maize - 90kg costing Ksh4500 each
5 sacks of beans - 90kgs costing Ksh6000 each
Being addition quantity on the deliveries of the current tender to feed rural school children. I will be able to cut down on the transportation which costsKsh10000per trip. My wish and goal to make one delivery per term and save on transport cost. Their term consumption is 70 bags of maize and 50 bags of beans.

I'm so impressed Anthony :-) I saw how well you were doing after my message before :-)

Just know you have our support :-) Don't beat yourself up too much, you'll get there... Life can be hard sometimes...

You can contact Zidisha and ask them to lower your payments to help make it more manageable :-)

Wishing you all the best Anthony... Seeing how well you picked things back up again before really made me smile. It takes a strong human to pick themselves up when they've been knocked down... I hope you see your strength :-) All the best, Emma.

The loan amounting Ksh64,381 was well received on 22nd I really appreciate. Thanks you thanks, words cannot express the way I feel in my heart. I will add the loan funds to school tender project and add eleven additional sacs of maize and three of beans. With the current high prices of grains product, I still searching where I can get cheap maize/trasport to site.. I will update as the school term unfolds.

Thanks Thank you very much may the almighty God bless you all.
I will be able to add on to my beans, millet and maize supply to a school. With this lack on common commodity 'maize' due to the last season change of climate, the loan will assist me on additional bags on maize per deliveries.

Thanks you very much I will update you all as the school second term unfolds
    Regards
    Anthony

The last loan I added into my agencies capital, later when I was awarded tendering contract to supply Maize, beans and wheat. I pulled some money and used it as a capital into my new venture. Its been challenging due to change of weather and prices of the maize going up, but I managed to serve them first term.

With additional loan I will be able to add 12 more sacks of maize and beans onto one delivery to cut down on multiple deliveries to the school which is very costly.

    Team,

It has been quite a challenge and learning period this first quota especially being a new bee on this contract tender business. Challenges that I faced on the first quota are;-
    1. Change of weather pattern making the price shoot up over the tender quotes
    2. Tender contract states someone cannot renegotiate price change until 90days.
    3. Getting finances/investors ( Most finances they don’t finance first time tenders)
    4. Unpredictable institution paying pattern (they don’t have an SOP)
    My lessons
    1. Its capital intensive, someone need to have bought and stores the grains
    2. Someone need a very understanding and flexible investor/financier
    3. With enough money the best way is to buy the whole delivery and take it. This cut down the cost of transportation due to multiple delivery costs. (Or alternatively own a truck).
    4. Patient, Patient, Patient -
First term is over the institution closed for April holidays to resume back on May now I’m making a forecast plan for second term, to cover my weakness and threats and optimize on strength looking for more opportunities.
    Kind Regards
    Anthony

Thank you for the update Anthony. It helps lenders understand the challenges business people face in other parts of the world. My husband and I were in farming and saw commodity prices change. Some years we did well and others not well. I hope you will be able to continue to be successful in the challenge of the drought. Regards, Mary

Apology for inconsistence on loan re-payments.
This first quarter of 2017 my financial flow has been very tight. As I had updated earlier, I won a tender to supply dry food to one of the rural institution this year. I did two deliveries, they managed to pay one delivery and I used the same amount to make the third delivery, but unfortunately when I went to the market due to the current unexpected weather change in Kenya, maize and beans prices shot up above my tender quote. I had to look for more finances (I pulled some agency capital) to satisfy the delivery, and also I had to renegotiate with the institution about adjusting tender prices. They told me as per their tender policy the committee meets to make any changes 90days after offering tender contracts. The 90th day was ending 20th March 2017. So I stopped invoicing until they meet. I’m still following up with the intuition about their consensus, the last conversation we had they told me they haven’t met due to ongoing end of term exams they are doing.

    Dear lenders,
I communicated to Anthony and his challenge in repayment was attributed by delayed repayment in institutions he had supplied his commodities to. He promised to make repayment soonest from the end of the week.
