About Me
My names are Nicholas willigis muthomi.iam 39 years old,i hail from kulamawe village,Bulapesa location,Central division of Isiolo county in Kenya.Isiolo county is located in northern kenya and is classified as an semi desert with very little rainfall.its inhabitants are pastoralists i.e the Boran,Turkana,samburu and Somali who mainly deal with livestock such as Camel,sheep,cows and goats.no crop farming is undertaken in isiolo since the hot weather is quite unfavorable.
i completed my secondary education in 1995 and went to meru technical institute where i undertook Accountancy course (Kenya accountants technician certificate-up to Final level in 2002 which i excelled and advanced to Certified Public Accountant up to section 2 which i too excelled.unfortunately,i did not complete the whole C.P.A level since my mother being a single parent and having too many mouths to feed and cater for,could not afford to pay for the course which prompted me to terminate my accountancy studies.This left me so much depressed up almost to the point of breakdown.due to my condition my health deteriorated rapidly. i was taken to a counselor who advised me though he insisted on joining exercise classes to help cool my thoughts.Thats when i met a certain Taekwondo coach Master Mike who became both my trainer and my mentor.This made me heal my thoughts .I continued with Taekwondo which i excelled up to 2nd degree Black belt, and currently i am a Taekwondo, Aerobics and general physical fitness instructor.Born from a single unemployed mother.life has not been easy which made me not to complete the accountancy course up to the last level.i am 3rd born from a family of 5 children.
Iam married with 2 children,(all boys)my elder son is 10 years old and in standard 5 while my younger son is 7 years old and in standard 2.
My Business
I am a qualified Taekwondo and Aerobics instructor,holding a 2nd Dan Black belt in Taekwondo. I opened up a taekwondo gymnasium in Isiolo town know as ISIOLO RED TIGERS TAEKWONDO AND FITNESS CENTRE.It is the only physical fitness gymnasium in the entire county of isiolo.to help nurture young talent especially youths ad also targeting those with stressful and depressive conditions as it was in my case,since practice would keep their minds and body free from stressful thoughts.
But taekwondo alone did not cater for all categories of people,since Taekwondo training being so aggressive,didn't appeal to many.they claimed that Taekwondo was suitable only for male youths.hence there was a great demand of Aerobics mostly from older women and girls who were fighting with obesity.Through the help of zidisha,i was able to start an Aerobics gymnasium.
MY REVENUE
Taekwondo has a membership of 15 students and Aerobics has 20 members totaling to 35 members in general.Each member (both Taekwondo and Aerobics) paying a daily fee of $0.5 per session equivalent to $2.5 weekly (Mon-Fri)this tantamount to a weekly revenue from all members as $77.5. and totaling to a monthly revenue of $300.through the increased revenue,i have bee able to cater for domestic needs of my family,paying up for my children education,pay gym rent,water, electricity,and more so,giving back to the community.
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
4 of these members,3 in Taekwondo and 1 member in Aerobics,I have exempted them from any kind of gym fees since 3 of these are street kids whom before i spotted their talent were living on meager public handouts.I have since then given 2 of these street kids some menial duties in the gym e.g cleaning,which i usually pay them so as they may be able to cater for their daily basic needs.i then took the other kid Eric who is 10 years old (youngest)to live with me in my house to date ad providing with all his basic needs.
The other member Jocelyn,comes from a very poor family.her Dad is living with disability( crippled by polio)they live in extreme poverty,and i decided to exempt her too from gym payments since she displayed some quite considerable interest in aerobics but had no means to pay for it.
NEED FOR BODY BUILDING AND CARDIO GYMNASIUM
Their has been a very great demand of strength training ( body building) and cardio exercise from the rest of the group who do not either prefer Taekwondo and Aerobics.more so some people have different taste, preference and talent too.majority of youths in isiolo town and its suburbs have constantly urged me to open a body building gymnasium,and older women have too kept pressing me to start up a cardio exercise class along side Taekwondo and Aerobics
But my major challenge is that bodybuilding and cardio exercise equipment are too expensive to purchase and with only the small profits i get fro Taekwondo and Aerobics,it becomes almost impossible.but hoping to get the funding from zidisha community to achieve this goal for i and my county isiolo.
Loan Proposal
I shall purchase the following equipment
1.Treadmill (multi functional)- 1unit - unit price =$500
2.Spin Bikes - 2 units,each at $50 -total price = $ 100
3.Barbells - 1 set -price = $70
4.Dumbbells -1 set - price =$150
5.Weight lifting bench-2units each at $50 total price =$100
6.Weight lifting bar-2uits each at $30 total price = $60
Total cost of all equipment =$980
The fees for the Cardio and strength training/body building exercises shall be the normal fees which i usually charge in Taekwondo ad Aerobics sessions,that is $0.5 per individual per session daily,$3weekly(Mon-sat) and $12 on monthly basis
I am targeting new membership of 22 members,10 in body building and 12 in cardio exercise.hence for 22 members,i am projecting i monthly monthly revenue of $244,during the first month only,but being so sure that the membership will increase in the coming months.
The increase in income/profits shall be of much benefits since,i shall utilize it by first paying up the loan,then i shall save half of the remaining profits to be spent on purchasing more gym equipment,while the remaining portion of the profits, i shall spend it i catering for domestic expenses of my family and for my children education.
In addition,the creation of these 2 additional exercises,i.e cardio and strength training gymnasium,will help a lot in reducing/eliminating idle youths in my county
especially the unemployed youths,ad this will in turn help curb crimes committed by these idle youths making isiolo county a more peaceful and enjoyable county to live
