About Me

My name is Christine Mwendwa. I am 25 years old. I started venturing in the poultry business four years ago to earn a living. It has been a tough journey, but I really thank God because I have managed to come out successful. Poultry farming, apart from enabling me to pay my bills, revenue, rent and take care of my basic needs, is also my hobby since I like it so much. I mostly deal with quails, broilers, turkeys and layers. It is quite challenging, but the experience I have has enabled me to tackle any hindering challenge around me.

In the future, I plan to expand my farm so that I will start supplying big hotels [restaurants], since I have been receiving many orders but due to lack of funds I am unable to satisfy their demand.

My Business

As I said earlier, I am in the poultry business. I mostly supply eggs and meat. My business is quite profitable, because in a week I make sales of about$144. This enables me to pay my two workers, pay my rent, revenue and still save some money for my own use.

Being in the Coastal region, the demand for poultry is very high because almost every household depends on poultry for their food supplements. Quail eggs are very nutritious and, in most cases, my quail egg buyers are patients since the eggs have a medicinal value. Because of my weekly income, I have no doubt that, given a Zidisha loan, I can easily pay it back without any difficulty.

Loan Proposal

Thank you for funding me through my poultry business.
Aside from this,i would like to venture into something different, the cherry tomatoes farming. With this current loan proposal, i wish to hire a piece of land separate from the poultry once since it is small.I will purchase the cherry tomato seedlings and wire mesh for constructing the tomato cages. This would amount to averagely 500dolllars.
From the research i have done, the cherry tomatoes are easy to grow and can withstand harsh climatic conditions in case of weather changes. They multiply in plenty . In this coastal area, few people grow them.Since few people grow them, the demand is high and fetch a good price .
From this ,i expect to fetch a profit of almost half what i have invested.
Thank you.
