I am a rural girl, having been born in the Machakos region of Kenya. I, however, currently reside in the bustling capital city of Nairobi where I am employed. I am married with two lovely boys. In my current post, I am a logistics officer for a beverages company, but on my off days I enjoy doing things with my hands and spending time with my family. I also enjoy the outdoors and love to travel when time allows.
I have dabbled in the making of custom, home-made carpets in the past with some measure of success. I have recently decided to shift focus to the making and selling of snacks. I have long had a passion for cooking. I enjoy trying out new recipes to cook meals for my family in my free time. I have also catered for my friends' parties in the past and received good feedback on the quality of food served. I intend to put these talents to good use in my new venture.
As i have expanded my business, i have been on the look out for new products to add to my offering. Quite recently, I discovered that i could make quite good margins by including fried chicken in the menu. My take on it is small servings that my clients are able to afford such as wings and drumsticks as opposed to whole pieces of chicken. I have found that it is cheaper to buy my meat in bulk but i currently have quite limited space in my current apartment-size fridge that i have in shop. My plan is to acquire a good size chest freezer which cost about 480 USD. I would also need to procure a volt guard and stand for the unit which should cost about 60 USD. With this equipment, i will be able to reduce spoilage, purchase meat products cheaply in bulk which will improve my profit margins.
