About Me

I was born in the year 1946, on Kenyan soil. At this time, there was little formal education in Kenya, i.e. school was only meant for the rich in most cases. I grew up in hardship, even though I formed part of the minority group that attended school from a poor family.

As I was growing up, I used to practice poultry farming and on the other hand agriculture too, as was the norm in the community I was growing up in. Through thick and thin, I struggled through tough difficulties, especially when my mum passed on in 1959. I can say that I overcame the challenges just because of the hard work of agriculture that I was taught as I was growing up.

My Business

My business involves poultry farming and besides agriculture, especially mixed farming. My farm is located in Mogiri County, Awendo Subcounty, just next to Skyways Bar.

I rear poultry, both on a small scale and large scale. Besides, I also keep cattle and grow crops like maize, beans and cassava on my farm.

The poultry I keep has got high demand, especially in the town where I am coming from, as most of the hotel and restaurant owners need them for meals in their hotels. The crops I keep like maize and beans I also sell to the nearest Awendo Cereals Board that takes them to latter brake them to the retailers who buy such crops from them.

I chose this type of business due to the high demand of the goods I was seeing in town. More so, the rich fertile soils I live on encouraged me most to practice agriculture.

The profits I earn I use to pay school fees for my two children in high school and for one in the University of Nairobi.

Loan Proposal

The loan I need I will use especially to buy poultry feedstuffs like chick mush and growers mash. I will also use part of it to improve my farm implements, since I also keep cattle.

As a mixed farmer, I also need so much human labour, as there is more work on the farm than I can accept and manage myself. So I will use part of the loan to improve on the labour availability, so as to make the work on the farm much easier.
