My names are Peter Okumu , am a pharmacist and i run a pharmacy at my local neighborhood, i was born and brought up in Rongo town in Migori county,i went to school at Rongo primary school and later-on Ukwala hogh school in Siaya county.I was raised by my mother from the early years of my primary school since my father passed on when i was still young, we faced rejection especially from my uncles who were my fathers brothers and they even snatched all the properties my father left from us and they left us penniless . My mother was forced to work hard to fend for me and my two sisters , she sold fish to help us survive,She paid my school fees untill i competed my college at Elgon view college and even gave me some little capital to start a pharmacy of my own since employment was not forth coming .Sugarcane is planted in large scale here in Rongo, and our language is unique since we add a sense of human while speaking. One of my child wants to be a university lecture while the other one wants to be a teacher.i love reading books.
I provide medicines mainly human medicines , i sell different kinds of cough tablets and syrups, malaria drugs of all kinds , paracetamol, aspirin, and all kinds of drugs used in the treatment of all kinds of human ailments.I believe my business exists for the main purpose of giving medical attention to the sick and i also make a living from it.My main costs are the cost of my rent where my pharmacy is located and the cost of license yearly , i make a turnover of ksh 30000 every month which i use to pay for my children's school fees and for my sisters secondary school education.
I will buy a carton of ellymol cough syrup for my pharmacy, they will cost me$ 100, and i will be able to make a profit of $20 from each carton, At this time am selling a carton in one week, there i will be able to reinvest the money many times as i repay the loan. The demand for this cough syrups is high at the moment due to the cold season.Meeting this demand is extremely important to me and to my customers.
