About Me

My name is Margaret, the first born in our family. This instilled me with great responsibilities taking care of my younger siblings and being the 'parent' whenever our parents went for their casual work in the coffee estates.

I grew up in the rural town of Gatundu District. This is in the Central Kenya and not far from the capital Nairobi. Its an hour drive.

Having not pursued a higher level of education, I purposed I must make it in life.

I started fending for myself very early in life, as a teenager. I ended up doing menial jobs including being a nanny. The life was so hard but l persevered. I still had to support my parents with the little I earned to help them raise our other siblings.

With the little that I kept aside I started selling clothes to the neighbors. When I got married, I carried on with this business.

I go to main market, select various ladies' wear and resell them at a profit. It usually a home based business and I move from customer to customer.

During my pastime, I love singing. I have already recorded one album.

My Business

Mostly I deal with ladies wear.

My clothes are in demand because I deliver to people in their homes and businesses. I do the business from my home.

I have now expanded my business to include sale of beauty products like the hair pieces, braids and weaves for the ladies.
This too is picking so well.

I chose this kind of business because clothes do not expire and most people have no time to go to the market. Its easy when I deliver to them.

It costs met about 2-3 USD per cloth. I later resell at a 20% profit.

The profit I get, I pay my residential house rent, add more stock and support my music production.

When funded I believe more stocks will be available thus more sales and more profit. I also intend to rent a stall in town to diversify my business to include other businesses that I can not do from home e.g. Mobile Money services, sale of soft drinks, snacks and scratch cards among others.

Loan Proposal

With this loan, I intend to:

Add Synthetic hair stock: USD 50
Add ladies tops : USD 25
Add ladies trousers : USD 25
Add ladies short/pants : USD 75
Transport related costs : USD 5

With this new stock the profit will increase by 30% or more and it will be beneficial for a continued expansion of my business and improvement of life.

It will also help me greatly in repaying my loan.
