About Me

My Name is Miriam Mwende Kiambi, a 22 year old Female Kenyan citizen. I study at Chuka University. At the moment, I'm taking a Bachelors degree in education. I come from Tharaka Nithi county, and I have a great passion for fashion and design. Having been raised by my grand parents, they have taught me to always believe in myself, since everything someone believes, they eventually achieve it. I also learnt to be independent from a very young age. I use my entrepreneurship skills to raise my upkeep here in school to offset the pressure from my straining grandparents. I'm also business minded I have a stall at the University market where I sell second hand clothes to fellow students. Apart from Fashion and design, I also look for sponsors to fund modelling events and fun days. Last year on December I was on the run way on my first time, modelling for Mr and Miss Egoji, and I was honoured the tag. It was very motivational. I.m currently in my third year of study.

My Business

About my business, I have a stall located at Ndagani Chuka University Market. At this stall I sell second hand clothes, and I have mainly specialized in ladies clothes. I get my clothes from Meru town since it is the nearest town to Chuka University. On Monday and Friday I go to Meru and select the best and catchy dresses, tops, belts, trousers and other type of women clothing and ornaments. I then resell the clothing at my stall. At this stall some of these clothes make up to more than 100% percent profit. For example it is very practical to buy a lady's top at $ 0.56 and later resell it at atleast $ 1.67. It is very easy to market my products since most of the customers are fellow students. I have a dream of owning a large boutique and have my own collection of design some day. With the help of members from Zidisha community, I know this dream will come true. Thanks in advance.

Loan Proposal

When my loan has been fully funded, I intend to add add more stock in my clothing stall. I usually buy clothes at Meru during market days, that is on Monday and Friday. I am planning to specialize in tops, dresses and trendy trousers. Basically I buy tops at around $ 0.6 and resell at about $ 1.8. This translates into more than a hundred percent profit. After eliminating the expenses, I am very confident that I will raise my upkeep at school, and also utilize my free time. It is easy to market my products since most of my customers are fellow students. Thanks in advance dear Lenders!

    Dear Zidisha Team!
I am happy to inform the entire Zidisha fraternity that I successfully completed my undergraduate studies. I have relocated to Thika Town, near Nairobi city. My business is fairing pretty well, and I would like to reschedule the loan to higher Installments. Thank You so much for this support.

Hello Zidisha Team, the reason i am rescheduling my repayment schedule is because my business is still straining especially now that most of my customers are on long vacation. So i hardly make sales to break the even. However am still optimistic about the situation especially as from September when my customers will be resuming from long vacation.

Hello Mr Steffen, in response to your question, I will send you some images showing demolition of our stalls by the county council of chuka. The demolitions have affected so many business in this area, but we have been relocated to another site, which will now be the market. As I await to take images of my former place of work, I would like you to have a look at the links below. They are news articles related to the demolished houses at Chuka.

    Hello Mriam,

thank you very much for this update, that you have to relocate your stall because of new law ruleset. What's the general impact for the people in your district because of the new law? How many stalls have to move to other locations?
    Best Regards,
    Steffen

Hello dear Zidisha team and members, I would like to reschedule my loan repayment since a sudden change has occurred in my business. The county council has made a law that all stalls should be relocated for restructuring of the town. I am working on a plan to stabilize my business. With time I will adjust the installment amounts to a higher figure. Please bear with me. Thanks in advance.
