About Me

Im Hellen,a kenyan citizen born in a family of 5,a hotelier by profession-hospitality industry. In this industry I was taught that a customer is always right and I grew the passion of making sure our customers left satisfied all the time and always yearned to have my own business where I would deal with my own clients direct hence came up with the idea of starting my own business to boost my little earnings from the hospitality industry, and later realized I was a business minded person & the fruits of being self employed and worked hard to starting my own business. I have a passion for ladies stuff.
I do both retail and wholesale of ladies handbags, clutchbags, wallets ,shoes and dresses.
I also retail on ladies perfumes, lotions and body creams,& other accessories.

My Business

I was very addicted to facebook and apart from chatting with friends I had to come up with something that would earn me some income through facebook ,hence the idea of creating my page "FirstFinest where I could take pictures of ladies and children stuff and post there and sell through the same social media. My biggest income comes from ladies goods as they are very fashion-oriented. I import the goods which includes maxi dresses, handbags, clutchbags, wallets, shoes and other accessories from different countries. I earn regular income from two shops. i manage to pay my sales girls and my day to day upkeep and monthly bills. I strongly believe the loan given will help me move my business to another level.

Loan Proposal

Due to the high competition in the clothing industry, I have all along dealt with new items, but have seen the industry get flooded quiet first and would therefore like to be in both new clothings as well as second hand ones which I will be distributing on wholesale only.
The second-hand clothing has its own clientele who believe in getting unique stuff ,unlike when new ones floods in the markets and everyone ends up looking the same, I have observed that ladies always want to be unique in their own ways, wear what no one else is wearing, carry a bag that's not common with others in the streets and so on.
The industry is already tapped, but still doing very well and that's why I want to be in both new and second hand clothings.

Edwin Kiarii I believe you read my complains and concerned before the Admin decided to pull down all her comments, until zidisha gets back to me on my concerns, refrain from writing here, the ball is on their side and I'm also not AFRAID of CRB. Next I will log in here is when i see a notification of their message and an explanation for that matter..

    Hi lenders

I've severally tried to contact Helen to no avail. I've reached out to some of her references, and one (Mrs Macharia) has promised to reach out to persons close to her for some updates. I'm also made to understand she could be abroad at the moment. I'll keep you posted as I make further follow up.

    Thank you for your patience.

kindly don't bother writing here anymore, I'm comfortable being listed on CRB, let them do it, I'm also not afraid to tackle it with zidisha in court. if you go down the thread, you will read and understand my points of concern and the Admin deleted all her comments but I have all the screen shots of our conversation with her. I stand for my rights, not to be ripped off right, left and centre.

hey, why are you lying on this platform? I have never spoken to anyone from zidisha not even a volunteer mentor. I refused to be ripped off..my loan was supposed to be 66k and they deducted almost 20k...i even offered to return what they sent me, but they would hear none of it.

if emailing isn't the right way to get to the staff, why do they email when theres lateness in repayment period? Julia did email me and im not talking about the "No reply" automated mails...They should also answer the questions to make one understand. My reason for late repayment is because I don't understand how they published what i paid back so far.because i did my calculations as per what i got plus the service charge .The retention money, i don't get it. Anyway, I've posted in the forum, will wait for answers there.
          Thank you.

from the email address [email protected] was where the email complaining about my late repayment came from. I mailed back 3 times asking for a simple explanation which never happened.while you know very well payments should be made weekly, every week is passingby as i wait for a way forward..but nothing is coming by. I've posted in the forum, unfortunately time and network isn't always available to mail every other day, i shall leave it at that for now, hoping they will answerx and yes, ive posted in the forum, so will be waiting for an answer, but i can't make deposits for now,for something i got no clue about.

My question is what is this credit risk? You already seem to know what my problem is, i was supposed to receive 66000 but minus a service charge of 3300..there was a credit risk of a large amount of 19800..so i only received 42900..which to is what im to repay back. Does the 19800 credit risk get credited once i finish paying the 42800? and then i continue paying for it once its received or zidisha retains it? because offering 66k and retaining 19800 is a rip off! worse off than a bank interest.

thank you for your explanation, i never thought that one can get a whooping 19800 deduction. i will however pay exactly what i received,as i never defaulted and always retained 100 percent repayment record. Thank you for your time.

im also tired here, as i don't have automated messages to forward, i have to keep typing. Net will be paid including processing fees..credited risk excluded. amounts will be posted here, even the lenders should see the rip off.
                        lets end it there.

                          Hi Laurie,
I have read back through these posts as I receive them as a lender. I understand fully how the system works and the reasons for it. But I feel a lot of sympathy for Hellen’s plight. She has effectively borrowed $422 and has fees of $227, an effective rate of 54%.
I have supported Hellen over several loans and she was always a great borrower.
I know you are not on paid staff but I would like to see if you could help swing the following...
I lent Hellen $63. Can that amount be credited against her fees and then the balance owing be deducted from my account. I would hate to see Hellen punishes in whatever way a bad credit rating would do, even if the argument is that she should have understood what she was signing up for - even though the non refundable credit fee was not a feature the last time she took a Zidisha loan. As stated above, Hellen has been a great borrower and has always been diligent in her repayments. Thanks.

I will make a post and share your messages to the same platform i learnt about zidisha and create the rip off awareness.

i obviously did not take any screen shot as this was not the first time using zidisha. Lenders will ask me on this platform why repayments are late..just like they used to write a thank you note everytime i made ontime repayments. so they will know im not stealing from them, i have already explained that i thought the credit risk is credited once net is paid. so i don't think there was a technical hitch neither is there need to contact Julia as 3 times without any reply from her is also not a good sign. She contacted me using her email address which i posted earlier "rare case" as you called it, but yes she did and on asking about credit risk, she never got back to me. so i did my own instalments calculation from the net i got and i realised they were posting it differently..indicating a balance which i did not expect or understand.
so kindly, lets leave it at that.

no one in their normal mind "sane" would agree to sign for 66k and get 19800 deducted out of it. its ok to be labelled "stealing"from the lenders..and like i said, I'll publish here even Julia's email and what i wrote the 3 times. plus what i received so they can see what rip off and how im "stealing" from them.
                Thank you and goodbye.

    Hi Hellen,
I note that you finished your loan some time ago, but have not come back...
Not that I think one should push loans on people the way banks do in the west...
I hope that all is well, and that business is booming for you.

Hello people, hope you all doing well in lending and in businesses, I have not experienced business this low in Kenya but hoping things will get back to shape this coming season.
It's with deep sorrow that I got to know the lady who introduced me to zidisha has passed on( RIP) Scollasticah Milla. I met Scollasticah online and later face to face, and she explained to me how zidisha worked, her wish was that I'd not let her down in repaying my loans as that would deny her loans from zidisha.
I have kept my word even through tough times and will continue doing so to honor her.
Im trying to reach out to her daughter, but I don't have any contacts.
May God grant her family peace through this difficult time.

Once again, I'm overwhelmed by your kindness and willingness in lending me this loan. I'm more than grateful, May Gods blessings be upon you.
I will be stocking second hand bales in ladies blouses , maxi dress and children's clothes but will only distribute this on wholesale, and still retail new ones like I have been doing. The loan will help me open new doors for a certain class of people majority being middle class.
Will keep you all updated, and once again,
    Thank you very much.

Hello Michael...it's not been that bad, but for the last 2weeks it has really slowed down, and I just noticed I paid less by 1000 Ksh, I put my last loans payments which was 1944 other than 2944.... Should I pay the 1000 balance with coming weeks installment? It was a mistake which has not happened before.

    Dear Lenders,
This is to inform you that I will be a week late in repaying my weekly payments. This is because there's a short period between the time I received the loan and the time of making my first repayments as im still purchasing the goods.
I promise to honour this next week.
    Thank you for your understanding.

      Hi Hellen,
I suppose if you pay monthly, the first repayment is after a month, if you pay weekly, the first repayment is after one week.
Does seem like a short amount of time to get organised before having to start the repayments...
Paying a few days late is certainly not a problem for me.
And Ibelieve that a few days will make no difference to your fantastic On time repayment score.
All the best for the Easter selling season!
      Michael

I'm kindly requesting for another loan to stock up for the Easter holiday season when business booms again.
January to date, it's been quite tight with children going back to school and fees payment, but looking forward to greater months ahead.
