About Me

I was born into a family of 10 siblings. My father was a farmer and my mother was a housewife. We grew up in rural Nakuru Kenya and our parents who were farmers did their best to educate us with proceeds from the farm which we sold as children at the market.School was about 30 kilometres away and we walked daily to school unless we had fees arrears, then we would look for menial chores to do in order to raise the fee balances that we owed the school. My parents worked hard and got each of us through primary and secondary schools and i eventually started out selling second hand clothes for close to 5 years after my secondary education. In secondary i passed but did not to make it to college. I always dreamt of being my own boss someday and I opted to hasten the process. What worried me most was whether I would still earn as much money as those people employed.

My Business

My business is located at Nakuru where i reside started my business with selling second-hand clothes to generate enough cash to venture into poultry keeping. I also started making ice-cream from my father's house and selling it to school-going children. I got a little cash and added it to what I was earning from the clothes business.
After a few months, i managed to raise $200 and was ready for take off. I had no formal training in poultry keeping, but had the urge to make money and that is what has seen me thrive. I had done little research and realised that our locals from the village i reside import poultry products such as eggs from neighbouring counties. I knew that there was money in this venture.
I started with 50 day-old layer chicks costing $1 each and converted one of the room in our house the birds. After five weeks, the broilers were ready for the market while layers took between four to five months to start laying eggs. Soon i moved the chicken from the room in my father's house to a structure that could accommodate 100 chicks. I used local materials, wire mesh and iron sheets.
Counting my profits every day, i do booming business and is an envy of many of my villagers in Makhokho, I have a total of 100 chicks—40 broilers and 60 layers.
I get at least $300 every month broilers which costs $4 each.
I collect close to 5 crates of eggs every day with a crate selling at $3, With these profits i use to buy vaccination for the birds and cater for my needs
