About Me

Growing up as a child, I had the ambition of working in the area of Health, this was attributable to the beautiful and smart dressing of Nurses and other Health Professionals I saw daily at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital. Upon successful completion of my Basic Education in 2004 , I pursued Pure Science at the Bolgatanga Secondary School and graduated in 2007. On a quest to fulfilling my dream of working with Health, I Proceeded to the University for Development Studies where I pursued BSc. in Community Nutrition. Upon my graduation in 2012, I have partnered with the Presbyterian Primary Health Care in providing a wide range of Public Health services in over thirty different communities within Garu/Tempane and Pusiga Districts of the Upper East Region. I have since been successful in achieving some key accomplishments including;

• Facilitated community nutrition educational/Food demonstration and counseling activities
• Developed information, communication and educational (IEC) materials for community nutrition education
• Trained health staff on key issues in Exclusive Breastfeeding and Complementary feeding
• Supervised the rehabilitation of malnourished children at the Bawku Hospital
• Facilitated the identification of nutritionally vulnerable groups for intervention
• Identified the capacity building needs of the peer educators and other Community Health Volunteers
• Facilitated capacity building of peer educators and other Community Health Volunteers
• Conducted health needs/ gaps assessment and analysis at Primary Health care and communities levels
• Directly responsible for Project planning, Budgeting, Implementation and Reporting
• Undertook regular monitoring and Mid-term evaluations
• Explored potentials for new partnerships and networking relations
• Facilitated the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned
• Worked with the M & E unit to ensure results –based monitoring and reporting.

I mostly spend my leisure watching espionage movies and playing computer games, I also enjoy visiting friends, as people in Northern Ghana are very friendly and Hospitable. I also love making new friends and meeting new people.

My Business

As an enthusiastic Public health professional with four years of work experience in health development in Northern Ghana; through progressive career development have being involved in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Nutrition and Maternal Health programme development over the years – Strategic Planning, innovative project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Owing to the fact that most Adolescent girls are unable to complete Basic school in this part of the country, I have organised thirty Adolescent Health clubs in thirty different Communities spread across the Garu/Tempane and Pusiga districts of the Upper East Region. I meet these Adolescents at least once every month where we discuss a wide range of Public Health issues. Key on the issues discussed is Adolescent Sexuality, where I encourage them on total abstinence, and also promote contraceptive usage for those who genuinely cannot abstain.
I typically spend about 300 Ghana cedis monthly to procure contraceptives, where the Adolescents take it from me and pay in installments over a specified period. I make a profit of about 40 Ghana Cedis monthly which I reinvest into the business.

Loan Proposal

This loan will enable me procure a wide range of contraceptives for adolescents at the rural communities where I have organised them into Adolescent Reproductive Health Clubs. It will help those who genuinely cannot abstain to at least complete basic school without getting pregnant.
