About Me

I am Mercy Kalunde from Kitui in Kenya. I am a mother to one boy named Mike. I am a diploma holder in International Relations and also travel and tourism (IATA). I decided to venture into business after looking for a job for so long and not getting any reliable offers.

With the help of my family and my personal savings, I opened my wines and spirits parlour. It was challenging at first but with time I got used to it and learned business tactics on how to grow my business. It's been two years since I started my business and so far so good. I have learned how to survive and what to avoid to ensure my business thrives.

My Business

My business is mainly in wines and spirits. It's located in Mbitini market in Kitui County. This is my main source of income.

Loan Proposal

My wines and spirits counter is in bad shape. Lately there has been a lot of theft in my parlour. I would like to construct a better counter using metal grills to ensure no intruders can access it without permission.

This loan will facilitate the construction. I will buy metal, nails and pay for labour for the whole job. This will ensure my goods are not stolen and the counter can be locked to give access only to authorised persons.

I have been taking care of my ailing parent and times have been hard. I feel very bad for having defaulted my payment due to the current financial restraints. Am working on fully repaying my loan. Kindly accept my apologies.

I planted my pawpaw seeds and they germinated. The seedlings have since been transferred to the farm and are doing well. Now I would like to ensure they don't dry up by digging my borehole a few feet deep to ensure adequate water supply.

Thank you for uploading a photo showing what you did with our loan – this is so much appreciated (by me and other lenders who are generally interested in your effort)! :) Way too less people on Zidisha do so (showing what kind of effect their loan had)... So, you are showing the "best practice" here – thanx again!
