I am Denis Simiyu, the owner of Fair Price Computer Shop in Busia Village, Busia Sub-County, Bungoma County-Kenya. I do offer typing, printing, photocopying and browsing services. I have been operating the shop for the past 14 months. I was born in 1987, at Busia Village, Busia County. I did BSc Electrical Engineering, but had to be self-employed due to scarcity of jobs. I started off, the business, by leasing a computer from my maternal cousin. Today, I do have three computers, 2 printers and my own shop.
The market is promising, but faced by regular power black-outs. Alupe Market is shared by four sub-location, as the major shopping center, since Malaba town is 20 km away. At the market, I have only two competitors.
I would like my son to be a computer programmer. In my free time, I read technical articles a lot.
I do provide proposal/office work writing, typesetting, printing, photocopying, browsing and online services. Additionally, I offer DVD writing services, Revenue Returns, Teacher Application and Salary Slip, Passports, software/Hardware repair and video editing services. Most of these services were being found in Bungoma town, since my two competitors offer typesetting, printing, and photocopying services.
I love the IT related businesses since they require little capital, but high returns. I do input KES 5,000 (50 USD) per month, this is inclusive of the rent and electricity, and return an average of KES 30,000 (USD 300) per month. Money from the business is used for the upkeep of my family, my son, wife and dad who is diabetic.
I would like a loan of 1,039.72 USD. USD 150 for company registration; USD 150 will be used to hire a web designer; USD 80 will be used in for hosting services; US 309.72 will be used in marketing; USD 40 for Data/call services; USD 10 for paper work; and USD 300 for Core i5 Laptop with lenthy battery life, since our region has constant power blackouts.
I will sub-contract my services to other graduates in case am not able to tackle the project; this will be indirect employment to the numerous unemployed youths in Kenya.
I will be offering Research Project/Proposal writing services, RFP, data analysis, logo design, circuit design, transcribing and database management services.
I am a part-time freelance writer at Academia-Research, from high seasons I do make about USD 1,300 in two months, that is April/May and the season of November/December too. With my business, I want to avoid seasonal income via intensive marketing so as to make USD 2,000 per month.
