About Me

My full names are Leah Waithera kimani. I am a resident of Kiptagwanyi shopping center about 45 kilometers from Nakuru town. I have been in Kiptangwanyi for a long time. We relocated to Kiptangwanyi in the year 1992 where I have been with my family. The area at this time was not very developed and starting a business was very challenging. The population of the area was also quite low. There was no electricity and the roads that connected the area to major towns such as Nakuru, Gilgil, and Naivasha were very poor and in some instances very impassable. Nowadays, the place is better as there is electricity and the population is also quite high. I am a married woman with two children who are all in school. They are both in primary school. I have taken them to a boarding school and this is where they are learning to. The quality of education at these institutions is quite high. II live in my own piece of land which is plot number 1054 at the shopping center. I operate a hardware shop at the shopping center. This business I started in the year 2001and is quite good and the demand for the products that I sell is high.

My Business

I operate a hardware shop at the shopping center. I have in this business for over ten years now and this is quite a good experience. I started this business as a small hardware shop and this improved slowly by slowly. I started this business as a small hardware shop. I was selling building and construction materials such as nails, cement, damp proofs, iron sheets and other construction stuffs. Later, with the revenues increasing, I ploughed them back into the business and it grew to medium sized hardware shop as it is now. The demand for these products is high and I have quite a good number of frequent customers. This has been attributed to the growing of the shopping center and also the rate at which people are acquiring land is high resulting into more building and construction. The main challenges that this business encounter are lack of good roads that increase the transportation costs, and fluctuation of world prices of this products. There is a high potential for improving this business and I hope that with more funds I will be able to improve this business to the next level.

Loan Proposal

Dear all lenders,
Am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to get a loan from Zidisha micro-finance. I would like to use this loan that I will be granted to add new building materials in my hardware. This will propel my business higher and I can now be able to have ready materials as in most cases I used to bring them when ordered by the customers. This loan will be of great importance in my business.
