About Me

My name is Margaret nyambura kuria I was born in 1955 at thimbigua village kiambaa location in Kiambu County. In the pre independence Kenya schools were very scarce and most parents did not believe in educating a girl child. However, I was able to join a catholic sponsored mission primary school up to class 8. From school I was employed to work in the farm which was owned by white settlers in the post independent Kenya. With my little savings, I was able to purchase a land in Gitire settlement scheme in Gilgil where I do commercial farming up to date. I am married and blessed with 5 children who are all adults.

My Business

My business is basically commercial farming at my farm in Gitare scheme in Gilgil town. I grow green vegetables, kales, cabbages, potatoes, onions, tomatoes etc. I started commercial farming after I realized there was a great demand for these produce in all urban areas where no food is grown. I also carry out dairy farming. I have 12 milk cows which gives me between 40 and 60 liters of milk daily. I sell my produce at farm gate prices to retailers who came to correct from as far as Nairobi. For the milk it is collected every morning by Olkarou dairies were I am paid at end month. The income I get from the farm is substantially good because I have been able to educate all my children. I have also been able to build a house where I live in. The only challenge I face is luck of a cooler to preserve milk from going into waste during hot seasons. With Zidisha platform I will be able to purchase a deep freezer to overcome this challenge.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders it is rainy season here in kenya and this is the best time for planting. i will now buy hybrid maize. cabbages and carrot seeds for planting this will give me high yields in produce for sell to the good market in the city of Nairobi. this will definitely give me more money and hence improve my living standard. i will also have a chance to buy a deep freezer to preserve my milk from going into waste during hot spells. i promise you to make a difference in my life. be blessed as you fill my bids.Thanks in anticipation.
