About Me

I am a 23 year old male Kenyan Citizen.I live in Makongeni Phase six in Thika. I am the second born in the family of two children.
I am a clothes dealer at the Thika Stadium stalls. I started this business immediately after clearing my secondary education.
For many years Kenyans relied on the local textile industry for all their apparel needs. Most Kenyans however, could not afford these clothes.
As Kenyans become more fashionable and budget-conscious, consumers are flocking to second-hand clothes vendors in search of bargains and unique pieces they find stylish. Kenyans want to look good without breaking the bank.I being a youthful Kenyan and passion for fashion, I decided to make a mark in the business and make a living out of it.
Normally, I get my stock from Nairobi Gikomba market where its normally cheap and easy to get the clothes.

My Business

I deal with second hand clothes.
Second-hand clothes are commonly referred to as ‘Mitumba’ in Kenya are providing a cheaper alternative to locally produced or imported new clothes. This has made the second-hand clothes business one of the most lucrative informal businesses in the country.
My customers prefer me over my competitors since I get them the trendy designs they desire. I have made myself a reputable name in the clothes industry by being a leading dealer of quality second hand clothes. My friends, neighbours and entire youths especially in Thika form my customer base.
Fashion is dynamic. This is an advantage as well as a disadvantage to my business.I might bring a variety of clothes in stock and unfortunately some fail to please the customers and once its overtaken by time, it becomes dead stock leading to a loss.
In a month, I get to make a profit of between Ksh. 8,000 to 12,000. I have managed to save some money and just recently enrolled in Thika Technical Training College to pursue a diploma in Sales and Marketing. This will help me in a broader aspect understand the business and be able to handle my customers in a more professional way.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders,
I thank you first for you continued support and an opportunity for me to post my second loan.
I will use my loan in the following criteria to add my stock:
Ksh. 10,000 will purchase a bale of clothes from Gikomba Market in Nairobi. These are second hand clothes known as mitumba in Kenya.
As a result of my first loan from Zidisha, I managed to venture also into shoes business. The remaining Ksh. 15,000, I will use to purchase extra 30 pairs of shoes, each pair going for an average Ksh. 500 purchase price.
I hope and pray by Saturday I will have the cash for me to be at Gikomba Market as early as 3am to ensure I get the best quality and deals before others get there.
Please accept my proposal.
Thank you in advance.
