About Me

My full names are Hannah Wanjiku Mwangi. I am a resident of Kiptangwanyi trading center. Our division is Elementaita, Gilgil District and in Nakuru County/ I am residing in my own piece of land at the shopping center which is plot number 694. I bought this piece of land in the year 1996. At this time land was not very expensive in this area, but nowadays it is very difficult to purchase one especially in areas surrounding the shopping center. They are also not very available. I live with my husband and and four children together. All of my children are in school. Three of them are in secondary school and the smaller one is in primary school. I am able to educate my children through the business that I operate. The business which I operate at the shopping center is of a boutique. I sell men's ready made clothes as well as those of women. I have all fashions and I usually go for the latest designs in order to satisfy my customers tastes and preferences. The business has a very good potential and I know that I will improve it and the future is brighter.

My Business

My business is that of a boutique. I started this business in the year 2004. This was from some little family savings. The money was not enough to start a well stocked boutique and thus I only had few clothes that I sold during the open markets days. These were Wednesdays and Saturdays. The rest of the days of the week I worked in my farm. With the revenues I was able to increase the stock and changed the business to a daily basis business. Later in 2007 I rent a house and opened it for my boutique. Things have been good and the business has picked on well. I have been able to educate my children without much difficulty from the revenues that I get from the business. The main challenges that the business encounter are frequent fluctuations of the market and drought which reduces the purchasing power of my customers. I am always keen in making sure that I provide the best for my customers. It is my wish to improve the business through this loan that I will get from Zidisha organization.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders,
I would like to use this loan that I will be granted from Zidisha organization to buy more clothes for my boutique. I will increase more of women's clothes in my business and this usually very good for the business.Women's clothes are more demanded than any other types of clothes and thus my business will be on a good side once I have more stocks of clothes in my business

    Dear Lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere and I am a Kenya Country Liaison Intern at Zidisha. Within this role, I am coordinating the Zidisha's MPESA team, responsible for processing loan repayments and disbursements.

Today, while reviewing our accounts, I noticed that a loan repayment of 2,000 KES (approximately 23 USD) sent by Ms Wanjiku on July, 20 was not registered in his repayment schedule which has now been updated accordingly. Ms Wanjiku has faced some difficulties in the past few months due to her mother's illness. But she is very committed in repaying her loan and catching up with her arrears.

Mr Wanjiku, we are sorry for the inconvenience we had in processing your payment and we wish you all the best with your farming!

    Best regards,

    Roberta
    Zidisha Team

    Dear lenders,

Hannah's mother's illness has not improved in the last couple of months. Hannah has continued to provide for her financially and take care of her. As a result, Hannah's business and personal finances have suffered and she expects her payment capacity will be reduced in the next couple of months. Hannah has remained in contact with us and we have connected her to her Volunteer Mentor so she can adjust her repayment schedule accordingly. Hannah has assessed the amount she can pay consistently while continuing to take care of her mother and revive her business.
We will continue to update you as we hear more from Hannah. Thanks for your support!
    Sincerely,
    Analin Saturria McGregor
    Country Liaison Manager at Zidisha.
