About Me

I`m Victor Otieno, yet to marry. I live in Kenya, Nakuru County, Whitehouse estate. I`m an Administrator by profession but never practiced it, instead I joined business field. I started business because I wanted to be my own boss and be able to stretch my innovation during my extra time. I supply fertilizers to farmers in the wider Rift Valley farms for the last 2 years .From my earning, I get profit and part of it I plough back into the business for expansion of capital. The remaining profit I use for maintenance, settle bills and daily up keep. I like mentoring and motivation, therefore, free time I do capacity building in different institutions. Since we are in 21st C where education is not everything ,I`ve started a project of imparting business knowledge in collages in Kenya so that while people study, they need to focus and mould their minds towards creating opportunity not necessarily just seeking employment so that we end up with more inventions in this world.

My Business

Since I supply fertilizer which is a basic input to farmers in my region, I`ll be in a position to make profit and settle my loan. Fertilizers have demand because the main economic activity in this region is farming. Customer service and relation plays a key role in sustaining clients to beat competition. The main risk I face is smuggling of substandard fertilizers from the neighboring countries leading to price fluctuation in the market. Averagely I spend $200 with sales revenue of $ 120 and a profit ranging between $ 100 to $150 per month. I have part time income from capacity building in different institutions such that I can in turn use to repay the loan.Since I got the first loan from zidisha,my business has been affected in a positive way.For example: I was among the few nominated key suppliers to attend a farmers forum in my county region simply because,my supply had increased credibly.

Loan Proposal

When I get this second loan, I will buy bio degradable fertilizers and treated seeds which farmers told me to place an order for. This could not work earlier despite demand because I lacked funds to invest in that expansion field of interest. Funding me will boost my business and dream in such fields like, employing qualified person to assist me handle my clients which I believe will expand with time hence creation of employment. This in turn shall boost our economy. My business shall attract more farmers based on the rare farm input products which I shall supply. The seeds I want to buy cost averagely $1.5 per 2kg and are sold to farmers at $2 per 2kg.This will bring a profit of $0.5 per 2kg.My survey tell me, I can distribute at least 400kg in one month. This translates to averagely $200, a good revenue to cover my expenses, leaving me with a sweet profit. In addition, the organic manure I will buy cost $20 for 40kg.I sell at $30 per 40kg giving me a profit of $10 per bag. Estimated revenue from fertilizer per month is $300 which is huge given that they are used during planting, weeding and harvesting.Currently my profit ranges between $100 to $220 per month.I look forward to double that after findings.I`ll not forget the meetings, forums and even farmers shows I qualified to attend in the last few weeks. I believe my business is likely to attract more consumers thereby increasing my chances of participating in farmer’s forum. Thanks in advance to those loyal lenders who shall consider my humble request to boost my business. Be blessed.

    Hi lenders,
I have decided to reschedule the loan because I have not been able to stabilize my business cash flow since last year.
My stock is getting down despite my effort. I am working on a break through order which hopefully will bear fruits to attract more customers in my business.
I am now targeting people who will be permanent customers so that I could expand my network to be a supplier.
I believe my plans shall work because my actions towards that are underway implementation.
May you keep bearing me into your prayers because I have no option but to succeed.
    Regards Victor.

    Dear Victor,

happy new year. I send you a copy of the message sent Jeremiah Oweke. The last time you talked to him, it influenced him to fulfill his first repayments. Ever since that day he didn´t post new infos neither he repaid his loan.
I´m sorry I have to disturb you again.

    Here´s my last message:
    "Hi Jeremiah,

after your two payments in December you missed the last three dates again. Does your business work well? When do you think you´ll be able to repay again? I´m looking forward to hear from you.

    Regards
    CSM"

    Thanks for your help

Due to unexpected outcomes in my core business return, I`ll hang on until I succeed. I know that we can plan as human beings but Gods purpose shall always prevail.
I had my plans when I got my funding but our creators plan shall always be beyond mine.
I beg to keep on keeping on until I stabilize. My 2015 resolutions shall always lead me to prosper and pick up while standing firm.
May you lenders consider my plea as I shall always be reliable when needed.
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi CSM,
I know where Jeremiah is but he is doing exam till January.
I told him to settle his arrears and confirmed to me that he will.
I went ahead and taught him how payments are made, benefits of timely repayments.
I believe he will act promptly.
      Thanks

    Hi lenders,
Tough time don`t last but tough people do because of their optimism.
May creator remember all of zidisha families as we push all ahead to build this world better than we found it.

Hi Victor, do you know what the situation with Benson is that he has missed 3 payments in a row? Thanks for checking up on him as his mentor.

    • Victor    Dec 6, 2014

      Yes I know Voscke,
I have tried severally but never managed to reach him nor any of his referees. But I will never give up on him,
I know one day he will realize that purpose of taking a loan must precede plans of action.
Let`s hope for the best as I keep on trying to reach him.
      Thanks for your patience.

Victor Odera lives his life exemplifying his personal belief that “there is nothing ever impossible”. As the second of four children raised by their mother, Victor worked his way through elementary and secondary school slashing, weeding and harvesting on sugarcane farms around his home town of Molo in central Kenya. He was unable to complete the Bachelors in Business Administration that he commenced after school but he may return to it at some stage in the future.
After working for a company in an accounting role he felt offered little career progression, Victor left to expand the business he had started selling a very popular brand of organic farm fertilizer that also serves as a pesticide, wetting agent and spreader. But with the Kenyan government announcing, without warning, a block on the import of this product mid year Victor was left with a lot of capital tied up in unfilled orders and had to quickly try to diversify into other products such as herbicides and pesticides although her prefers not to deal in chemical products.
Victor enjoys working in this field as he believes “agriculture is the backbone of our economy”. He also enjoys passing on his knowledge to others and has previously been employed to teach farmers how to use various products which provided him with great networking opportunities with both government agricultural officers as well as potential clients. He also attends agricultural shows to display and sell his products and network.
The recent setback to his business through the unexpected change in government policy has shown Victor the importance of diversification so he has recently become involved in selling green fuel tabs, has undertaken forex trading training and is also interested in other online business opportunities.
Victor uses his business profits to help support his siblings such as paying for tuition, uniforms, books, etc for his younger sister who is in Standard 7. He would also like to assist his brother to study IT at college next year.
Having benefitted a lot from his own business mentors Victor, in turn, enjoys passing on his knowledge to others by being a Volunteer Mentor with Zidisha. He enjoys being able to help others with their businesses and those who are less computer literate to interact with the website. He also says his role as a VM helps him keep in touch with the organization and make new friends. Victor told me his is “pleased to be a VM” and feels that “being a VM is a privilege”.
Having been an extremely talented high school football player before he was temporarily paralysed and bed ridden for several months during his final year of high school, Victor enjoys watching football which is very popular in Kenya. He also admits to being “addicted” to watching WWE SmackDown and enjoys going to the gym.

Indeed, I have tried severely calling Neremiah Kipkemboi but in vain. He never picked my calls at all from the beginning.
My next plan by end of this week is to contact either his Volunteer Mentor, Family member or neighbors.
I believe I shall get in touch with him.
Will update you Discoball once I reach him.Thanks.

Because of unavoidable circumstances,I reschedule this loan repayment so that I be in a position to align myself with weekly repayment promptly required.
Kenyan Economy has deteriorated and it kept on going the negative side.I pray that all shall go well and act as planned earlier.
My target still remain to clear my payment by end of this year with no delay.
Looking forward to greater height of success.

    Hi
I am writing this to inform lenders and the entire zidisha fraternity that I am rescheduling my pay from 500 kenya shillings to 300 kenya shillingts because our local market in Kenya has been faced with massive trade imbalance and barriers to limit sale of some farm inputs.
I have suffered big one when one major product called Super Gro which I use to enjoy its monopoly was stopped from importation since the goverment wanted to assess its content again was done already in Nairobi University 3years ago.
I just believe all will be ok.
I still maintain that by December,I shall be through with my repayment.
