About Me

I am Doris Kumagah from Mafi Adidome in the Volta Region. I was born into a family of five (5), four boys one girl(that's me, the oldest/eldest); my father died when I was eight years old so everything "parental" was on my mother, a palm oil producer.
Things were so bad that, after I managed and completed Jenior High School, I couldn't continue with my education because there's absolutely no difference between us and poverty.
I was along the line introduced to Zidisha by a friend so I benefited from financial support (loan) which I used to operate my business and also supported my beads making training.
Summarily, the above discussion is my story

My Business

Palm oil is the fat/oil that is extracted from palm fruits or nuts. I however buy these fruits from farmers on account or credit and pay them after production and sales.
Market has been appreciably good for the product but inadequate fund to increase production to meet the pressing demands of my clients is a challenge.
The right tools and equipment for the work/business are also not available but because one must survive, I always improvise so as to put food on my table.
Since the production is done on a small scale, I make a sale of GH¢ 50.00 daily.
In November 2015, the Food and Drugs Authority detected that, palm oil producers and sellers have been mix Sudan IV with the product. Since then, the demand on the product has declined drastically.
So in April this year, I started learning beads design (jewells) on part-time for six month duration. The first Zidisha loan I took has really changed my life and others around me.
Thank you

Loan Proposal

When this loan is received, I would buy more input (the palm nuts or fruits) and produce more of the product (the oil) which will eventually increase my sales or profit. When this happens, I will save some some money and buy land; and plant the crops so that in the near future, I won't buy the fruits again before producing the oil.
The loan when approved would also enable me expand my business with modern plant or machinery that can produce the oil on larger scale to meet the demands of my clients. This will also help me sell the oil to soap producing companies and make some appreciable returns.
