About Me

My name is Hellen Ngeno, married with three children. My first daughter joined Form 1 this year, second son is in her final year in Primary education while the young one is in nursery school. I was born in Nakuru county, Molo sub-county, in a very humble background. However, my parents managed to take me through primary and secondary education where I could not go further due to financial constraints.
Having seen all the difficulties in my childhood I decided to work hard to see my children learn in good schools. Thus despite my husbands' income I sought to start a business.

My Business

My business involves buying cereals from farmers and selling to the big companies like Kenya cereals board at a good price. I normally do this immediately farmers harvest their crops thus taking advantage of the price. My business is situated in the central position i.e in a centre and thus customers find it more appropriate to bring for me which makes me to save a lot due to the transport charges.
90kg maize normally costs Ksh. 1800 during harvest period and I sell the same at Ksh. 2500 either to the intermediaries or the company.
I also sell vegetables and fruits in my store plus other cereals like millet and sorghum of which my locals are the best customers on this.
The profits from the same are used to pay school fees and other needs of the family.

Loan Proposal

The amount I will get will be used to buy maize as farmers have started harvesting maize and I intend to tap them at a lower prize. A 90kg of maize is costing USD 17.6 and hope this will be coming low soon. I intend to stock more than 50 bags @ USD 880 and sell them at USD 24.5 per bag totaling to USD 122.3 of which I will sell to a nearby school. The profit I will get from this will be USD 342 less expenses of about USD 146.7 thus remaining with USD 195.6.
