I am Thomas Opiyo Okumu born in a remote village of kayombi in Siaya County. I am the firstborn among nine living children. We were ten but one passed away when we were young. I went to Umina Primary School for my Primary education but did not manage to join High school for lack of funds, eventhough I was to be admitted at Bar Kanyango High School. After marriage; I joined adult education for my studies and then graduated with an interest to help the needy access education. I started training adults who did not get the right education at a fee which is minimal than that which other private schools are offering.
I have two boys aged eight years and five years respectively. The five year boy would like to be a banker/accountant and the eight year boy would like to be a doctor.
After some years; I developed an interest in Education sector given that I was not able to get educated and so I thought of students who are going through the same experience. I provide education by bringing qualified teachers. I chose this kind of business because first of all; it is supporting my family and secondly, I am able to give back to the community at a small fee.
Right now, I need a loan to building rental houses that will bring income every month.
At the moment, if I am given this loan, I will be able to buy some textbooks for my classes, but in the future I would like to get a land, and have good buildings for the sake of educating the community. The benefit is that the money we raise will first support my family and to others getting a community school which charges little amount of money will be their benefit.
