About Me

I am a teacher by profession and a mother of 3 sons.I have an interest on enabling access to secondary education and on this, I started Network for Non Formal Educational Institutions (N-NFEI) an organization that advocates for non formal schools in slums and marginalized communities. In the process I was awarded a community TV that will broadcast secondary education targeting out of school youth.The TV is called ELIMU
I have been very active in the education world and participate in workshops, training and conferences. Since starting ELIMU TV I have found myself relating with the ICT world and working on programs that use internet and media to enable access to education.

My Business

Elimu Digital Media LTD (EDM) is a company that offers educational solutions through technology and media.EDM was appointed by the Network for Non Formal Education Institution to manage Elimu TV for 10 years. EDM is mandated to move forward the concept of enabling education for all through developing educational content, funding and establish partners and investors for ELIMU TV.
EDM Programs Include
Elimu TV
This is a Free to Air TV Channel broadcasting Secondary education and short courses on skill based program that include Agriculture among others.EDM produce video based educational content that is Aired on Elimu TV and Live streaming of Conferences and workshops. We also do documentaries that have education/ Training perspective. EDM is packaging its mobile program (22342) that will enable access to short SMS statement that will enable students to revise easily.
Elimu on- line
EDM has been sensitizing teachers on the need of using ICT in teaching. This is intended to develop a web portal where any teacher interested content development can open a page and start posting This can be do for Agricultural officers)
Elimu M-fund 56956
This program enables parents to pay school fees through Buy Goods Tilly number 56956. We have chared the concept with Central Bank and a pilot program will kick off in 2014 with 2000 students. Central Bank of Kenya is discussing the pilot program funding with patners.
Elimu –Mobile 22342
This program enables students to access educational content through a mobile SMS No 22342. EDM is seeking partnership with Safaricom

Activities carried out so far
• Acquired Elimu TV from Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK). Elimu TV was launched by the Assistant Minister for Education in September 2012 and has been on Air through Signet platform since then.
• Have Developed TV Content for Biology, Kiswahili, Mathematics and Physics on selected revision topics.
• The founder of the program donated TV Screens to two centers at Korogocho to start up TV Schools. We trained a group of teachers on content development for TV and on line teaching.
• We have continuously shared the progress of the program with the Ministry of Education.
• Working with Central Bank COMESA office to carry out research on Elimu M-Fund
• Looking forward to sign a contract with Safaricom to roll out the SMS Program in April.

Loan Proposal

I used the last loan to buy films for recording.In the last one month I have been following up with investors to Elimu TV because it is a project that need intensive funding. I will be partnering with Princecom Media a recording company with an experience of 10 years in video production.
In the last one week we have auditioned 7 teachers that will start recording secondary level content that will be Aired on Elimu TV.
I am taking a loan of 50$ to facilitate my transport to the studio during the recording period. I have now gained an experience on ZIdisha loans and will pay this loan on time. Thanking all the lenders and Zidisha team for this very noble project
