About Me

My name is David Adu-Poku. I come from a small town in the Central region of Ghana called Abandze. I am from a family of three children of which i am the eldest. I am not married but i have a six years old daughter. I went to Breman Asikuma Secondary School to attain my Senior High School Certificate. I also went to Cape Coast Polytechnic to attain a Diploma in Business Studies Certificate and further went on to attain my degree at GardenCity University College, Bsc Accounting with Computing. My Daddy died when i was in Junior High School and have since then been catered for by my Mum. I had to double as a sales rep for my mum when my Died to make some money in selling of Iodated salt in and around cape coast. I am now living in kumasi and working for Melcom Ghana Limited as an Audit Assistant. When i was in the University, i started a small business of buying and selling of cloths, perfumes, body spray and canvas (trainers) to students on my campus and further went out of my to other campuses around to sell to them. I called it Boutique on Wheels. It was a very good business opportunity i saw and took advantage of and its still doing very well. University students usually buy alot of things when they are on campus, especially when there is an event or program coming up and if you deliver them goods of good quality then they will always buy from you no matter the day or occassion. Even though i am employed by Melcom Ghana Limited, it has always been my goal to start up my own business and also employ people to work for me to also earn something to take care of their family. I am able to support my family from the profit i get from selling cloths and accessories. I play basketball and video game (PS3) at my leisure time.

My Business

My business is retailing of cloths and accessories. There is a high demand for cloths especially amoung the youth and mid 30's as everyone wants to look good and presentable at any point in time. Even though there are alot of boutiques around, i have the competitive advantage over the others since my boutique is not stable but on wheels as i put it. My boutique comes to you where ever you are and thanks to the trust and quality of my goods, i get alot of calls most of the time to come over with my things to customers. Now my dream is to first employ two people to move around the various campus to sell for me and secondly to buy motorcycles so that moving around would be easy and expand my business to other University campuses in Ghana. This will help me make more profit and improve the lives of my family.

Loan Proposal

My business Clothing and Accessories Sales and I called it Boutique on Wheels. At the moment am facing expansion and transportation problem. To solve this problem, i would like to employ two people and buy two motorcycles to move around in different university campuses to sell goods. Motorcycles move faster and avoids unneccessary traffic on our roads. This will mean that more goods would be taken to different university campuses and in return i will make more sales and more profit.
