My name is Rahab Wairimu, I am 32 years old and a divorcee. I have three children. One at std 3, another is about to join kindergarten and the youngest one one still breastfeeding. My marriage life has been complicated and I with my ex-husband agreed to separate after situation became evident that divorce is the only way out. I have been struggling raising my kids and would like them to have a better future. I went to sacred heart primary school and later qualified to join Aga khan High School. I finished my high school course and joined Mombasa Polytechnic straight away. I took Computer Applications and front office operation course and graduated. Thereafter I worked at Neptune Beach Resort and other recognized institutions in the capacity of (Receptionist/Cashier/Secretary and clerk). I later came to realize that there is no career person who is rich. Only business people become rich. I then started my own business that deals with selling of eggs.
My business deal with selling of boiled eggs. I did a research and realized how profitable it is. One tray of eggs is sold at Ksh. 330/-. The tray contains 30 eggs, which means that I buy one egg at Ksh. 11/-. Boiled egg goes at a price of Ksh. 20/- which means one tray has a total income of Ksh. 600/- When I deduct my Ksh 330 for the tray from Ksh 600/- which is the total income, I get a profit of Ksh 270/-. I don’t go around selling these boiled eggs myself, I employ someone to sell them for me on commission basis. I give him Ksh. 70/- after selling one tray. He normally sells 3 to 4 trays per day whereby I get a profit of Ksh. 600 to Ksh 800 per day. Since I am left without any other job to do, I came up with an idea to open a small shop that will deal with selling of eggs at a wholesale price. By doing this I will be busy and gain extra coin and at the same time get the trays at a price that will be cheaper than the one I get. I strongly believe if I get a loan and expand myself, I will be able to provide better living standard for my children.
I am a mother of 3 children. They all depend on me on their education and basic needs. I have been employed before but that is not my dream. My dream is to be a business lady who depends on herself.
I plan to use my loan in expanding my egg selling business, I normally earn not less or more than 10 USD per day. If I add more stock and make more sales I will reach a point of earning between 15 to 20 USD per day which is ok for me to raise my children without pressure. I strongly believe that your support is crucial for me to build the life I have been dreaming about and as well as raising my living standard.
