I am a small scale business lady who runs a small shop in my village. I am a single mother of two and the shop is my only source of income. I completed my high school studies but was unable to proceed to college. However i have been able to undertake a tertiary course in hair and beauty. I look forward to becoming a successful business lady through my current project; my shop.
I run a small retail shop in my village where i sell everyday household commodities. These include foodstuffs such as bread, buns, milk, sugar, rice; hygiene products such as soaps, body oils, washing powders; i have recently introduced baby products like diapers and baby oils. My is located deep in the village; away from the shopping centre and main road and is therefore a great relief to quick shoppers. I am then able to generate an income of about Kes 7000 ($70) in a month out of which Kes 3000 ($30) is net profit. I am looking to expand my product range to include groceries: vegetables such as Kales, cabbage, potatoes, onions and tomatoes; cereals like green grams and beans.
Since introducing diapers to my village area. the reception has been very good. I am now looking at expanding my stock to provide a variety of new goods which are not common in my village. I intend to offer such goods as affordable beauty products such as lotions and hair products, bathing soaps and other hygiene products that are not common around here. I also wish to introduce cereals such as green grams, pease and beans to reduce the time it takes to reach the main market for my customers. All these require extra funds which i do not have currently. However, they promise a good return.
