About Me

My name is Judis Makokha. I schooled up O-level at St. Anns secondary school. I was born in a family of 8 and I am the first born. My mother is a housewife while my dad was a policeman, but was relieved of his duties after thugs shot his hands and legs. After dad lost his job, life became hard and unbearable, we struggled to make ends meet but thins were tough since dad was the sole bread winner. The government catered for our education only up to secondary school. After secondary school with no money to join college, I was a desperate young girl until, an NGO working with orphans and vulnerable children came to my aid. I was trained on organic farming and goat keeping. I got interest in production of vegetables organically. I approached a supermarket that accepted to be buy my vegetables and with the income, I go to Maseno University as a part time student. I currently do not have my own children but I support my siblings and guide them as my own children. I always try to give them morale and nature them. I hope to expand my farm so that I can cater for their future education. I like meeting new people, making friends and reading newspaper. I hate gossip.

My Business

I do vegetables farming in half acre family land and keep dairy goats in the another half acre. I basically use manure from the goats for farming and avoid using chemicals in my farm. I sell milk to the nearby dispensary to parents with young children and sell my vegetables to a supermarket in Kisumu town. During gluts I dry my vegetables and sell them during dry season. Goats milk is delicious and highly nutritive and most parents prefer this to dairy cows milk. There are few farmers and this has given me a competitive edge as the demand for milk has risen steadily. For vegetables the demand is always high throughout the year. I spend $50 on seeds, labour and transport. My montly revenues are $250 in a month. I use the money to pay my college fees, pay for my siblings shopping and I support my parents in any way I can. I also save for for reinvestments in my farm.

Thank-you for your repayments! I hope that you don't have any problems with your bicycle, I sometimes get flat tires - of course, when that happens, it always happens far from home...

I once experienced that, true,it was away from home.it was really tough. I had to hire someone to deliver orders to the market while I worked on the bike.

I'm happy to see that your new loan has been funded. What will you buy first - the wheelbarrow, bicycle or water tank?
