About Me

I'm George Got. My father passed away and left me at an age of 8 years. We were left with nothing to lay our hands on, only a small thatched leaking mud house. Missing a day's meal was normal. Going to school without a breakfast and lunch became part of the life. I used to treak for more than 8kms to reach the school. Through all these odds I managed to pass well in primary. My culture looks down upon the widos, my mother was snatched the piece of land my father left behind. Through good luck my primary head teacher assisted me to secure a sponsorship in a missionary secondary school. I did my best and qualified for the university but poverty did not allow me to proceed. After secondary l became a casual laborer in the village for 10 years supporting
my siblings to attain education. Later God helped me and I was employed by the government where I work upto now. Since civil service pay in Kenya is meagre I joined farming to supplement. My three children would like to become doctor, pilot and a lawyer. I live with three orphans and support two in secondary school. Also I visit the aged and offer them assistance wherever possible.

My Business

My business is mixed crop farming which consists of maize, beans, various types of vegetables, onions, tomatoes, carrots among others. The crops help me as staple food for the family use.It allow my family members to consume fresh produce from the garden without any lose of nutrients due to storage process. The crops helps me in reducing the daily budget on food which is the biggest expenditure in the recurring budget. The produce I received in the last season has helped me to raise high school fees for the two orphan boys and one girl in primary School plus my three children in primary School also. The new term in Kenya for schools both secondary and primary begin next week after Labor day,lm proud to say that the revenue from the produce have allowed me to pay School fees for all the six children under my care prior to the new term opening.During the holiday they could eat well , attend camps and have a joyous holiday moment hence allowing them to resume back to school when they are fresh for the second term academic work. The business has enable me to carry out other tasks without major problem.I take care of my aged mother fully plus other aged members in the society.Hiv/Aids remains a disaster in Kenya thereby robbing away energetic young men leaving behind old people behind with young children to take care of.The business has enabled me to give back to the society through services and goods. At the moment I post my proposal of another loan of approximately $400 to allow me boost the business.

Loan Proposal

I will buy fertilizer and chemicals. This will be applicable to both long term and short term crops.Long term crops include maize , beans, sorghum and groundnuts.Short term crops include vegetables, onions, tomatoes and sweet potatoes. Also the Will be used in planting, weeding and fertilizer application. Some sums will be used in harvesting, transport and storage. So the breakdown is ad follows: chemicals $50, fertilizer$50 weeding$70 transport & storage &60 Seeds $30 agriculture extension services$40 farm tools purchase and repair $100 Total=$4000
The project of farming has reduced to me the cost of food since l receive from the farm. The children school fees come from the sales and since l have my children plus the extended family It's a challenge to sustain the family member
well. The surplus I do give to old and less fortunate in the society.
