My name is Beatrice Jerono from Kiamunyi- outskirts of Nakuru town in Nakuru county. I am 30 years old and married with three children.
I studied a certificate course in general agriculture from Rift valley institute of science and technology but have never been employed.
I spend most of my time managing our small vegetable farm that is our main source of income. During the evenings, I sell vegetables in a grocery shop outside my flats.
We have a small farm where we cultivate mostly vegetables especially kales. It is our main source of income for the family. I sell them both on wholesale and retail. My main customers are the grocery owners within the estate and the neighboring estates.
I also have a small grocery shop that I use to sell the same vegetables on retail especially during the evenings when the demand is good.
The business is good and only to expand the size of my vegetable farm
Since the small piece of land on vegetables has been impressive, I would like to expand my vegetable farm by planting a newly cultivated 1/8 acre that was previously used for maize production.
Therefore, i will use the loan to buy seedlings, fertilizer and manure. To save on time and ensure quality, I often buy ready seedlings from neighborhood. The $88 loan will help me in the following;
$33 on seedlings
$28 on fertilizer and
$27 on manure
The new farm will improve revenue that will go repaying the loan and savings for other investments in and off the farm.
