About Me

My name is Isaac Watalii Mwangi. I am married man with one wife, have five children who are in school, so we work very hard to raise and educate them and if possible give them the best in life. I am an elder of AIC church. I come from Karunga Centre, from Maili Saba Centre along Nakuru/ Nyahururu road you branch to your right you take a rough road you go past St. John’s Secondary School then to Karunga Centre. My business is called STELLA GENERAL STORE that deals with Agrovet/Hardware. I also stay around that area .From the centre you just ask Murungaru Primary School. From there you can easily locate my home. Ask Isaac’s Home and you will be directed.

My Business

I have a business of Agrovet/Hardware that sells farm inputs and hardware materials like cement, nails barbed wire etc. We also sell things like seeds, fertilizer, animal feeds etc. I also farm as business. From the first business I do get about 80000 per month which is about 960000 annually from the business of farming I get about 500000 per year so the total annual income is about 1460000. From the annual income, I am able to educate my children, pay my three employees and pay my other bills. We do not buy food because we do farming we also stay at our farm so we do not pay house rent.

Dear Mr Mwangi, I hope you and your family are doing well. We haven't heard any news from you for a very long time and you are far behind your repayment schedule. Please keep us informed when you will repay your loan to us. Regards, Bavarian

    Dear Lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere I am coordinating the Zidisha's MPESA team, responsible for processing loan repayments and disbursements.

Todaya repayment for 1,009.82 USD (87,000 KES) was enetered by mistake in the repayment schedule of Mr Mwangi. The correct amount of the payment is 8,700 KES; i.e. 100,98 USD approximately. This means that, upon removal of the transaction, the amount that had been credited to your lender account will be reversed and will reduce your available balances accordingly.

We are sorry for this inconvenience. Please, let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Best regards,

    Roberta
    Zidisha Team

Hello, my name is Dan Cembrola, one of Zidisha’s Kenya Client Relationship Managers. I am currently visiting Zidisha borrowers in Nakuru and its outskirts.

Isaac Mwangi, currently on his second loan from Zidisha, continues to successfully operate the Stella General Store in Karunga Center. Located about 5km off of the main road, Stella General Store is one of the few outposts that provide materials for farming and construction, the two main industries in Karunga Center. Isaac differentiates himself from his few competitors by using his knowledge of construction and farming to advise his customers on the best practices of both endeavors.

Isaac has owned the Stella General Store for five years but has experienced significant growth since he began receiving loans from Zidisha. Prior to working with Zidisha, Isaac would routinely buy 3-4 bags of animal feed, seeds, and fertilizer. He was only to sell small portions of each item at a time because the income of his customers fluctuated with the growing seasons. Oftentimes, Isaac would sell a customer seeds and would have to wait until those seeds were grown and harvested before his customer could fully repay him. This process made it very difficult for Isaac to increase his inventory. Since partnering with Zidisha, Isaac has been able to buy his inventory wholesale. This has allowed him to expand his customer base and given him the ability to sell his products to farmers on credit without being handicapped by the time it can take for him to be repaid.

In addition to his store, he also runs a two and a half acre farm. His added income from the prosperity of the store has allowed him to improve his cultivation of maize, tomatoes, and cabbage. He also owns three cows which he has recently built a new stall for on his property. With his next loan, Isaac intends to continue to expand his inventory and allow himself the ability to serve customers further afield from Karunga Center.
