I am Mark O. Opondo a Kenyan aged 31 years, I have a family with two children. First born is 5 years and is in nursery, second born is 6 months old.
I live in Bahati center plot no 53 just next to Bahati North district commissioner’s office. People who know and can give you information about my residential area include Steve Kagwe 0722148384, Moses Walela Waswa 0720050502, Samuel Ndungu 0720474748 who is my church member in Full Gospel churches of Kenya .
I hold advance diploma in computer electronic engineering and computer science studies fro m IAT college in Nairobi and Graffins college in westlands Nairobi.
I have adequate skills and experience of 8 years in the said field. Iam a part time computer instructor in a private school in Nakuru and also a freelance computer technician, repairing computers and their accessories. I also sell ex-uk CRT monitors and at times trade in CRT monitors with TFT monitors.
The business is not bad because people are leaving CRT monitors to TFT owing to their portability, clearity and low power consumption.
I trade in a 17’’ CRT monitor to my customers with a 17’’ TFT at a fee of kshs 7000 and make a profit of kshs. 1000. Then resell the ex-uk at kshs. 2500. Thereby making a profit of kshs. 3500. I also install windows operating system to my customers at kshs. 2000 and Application software at kshs. 1000.
In a good trading month I make kshs. 20,000 – 30,000 on my freelance technical IT job and part time teaching job kshs. 12,000. Therefore my total monthly income is kshs. 40,000. The only challenge I have is sharing computer workshop with friends whom we share rent and other expenses. I want to start my own workshop.
I currently have savings of kshs. 150,000 and need kshs. 50,000 from zidisha. This will total to kshs. 200,000 that I think will be enough to start my own workshop. I will pay 4 months’ rent deposit of kshs. 40,000, buy furniture at kshs. 20,000, install unlimited internet line at kshs. 20,000, trading license at kshs. 4000, out door signs and adverts at kshs. 10,000, 2 desktop computers at kshs. 40,000, employ a secretary at a wage of ksh.8000 per month and keep the rest of cash for buying and trading in ex-uk TFT monitors to my customers.
First i will thank zidisha team for their tireless effort to support small businesses like mine to grow to bigger ones, the last loan you gave me improved my ecomic lifestyle and thats why iam coming for a second loan so that i can diversify my business to dairy farming.
when I was home for April holidays that is kisumu, I traved in the small shopping centres like Bondo and Akala in Nyanza province Gem constituency and I noted that there is alot of money in farming especially dairy farming because milk is supplied from kericho town which is 250 km from my home area and 1 litre fetch kshs. 70. this encouraged me so much and I quickly decided to sell one cow and use the money to clear my two acre farm to plant fodder crops for the dairy cows and this is how I intend to use the money: 1. Buy two heifers in-calve cows kshs. 60,000 2. Conscruct the zero grazing unit ksh. 10,000. 3. Buy water pump and pipes kshs. 20,000 and the rest plant fodder crops for the animals and pay herdman.
