About Me

Am a residence of Subukia-Tetu farm and Kenyan citizen. Tetu is on your way to Nyahururu about three Km to Subukia center from Nakuru Plot number 201 Tetu Farm where I got married and am a farmer. I have been in farming since the year 2000 dealing in maize planting for domestic use but in to year 2006 I changed my profession of farming maize to tomatoes farming which I saw was profitable.

My Business

Most of the farmers grow long term crops. We started as a group of five people in 2007 where we decided to specialize in horticulture products such as tomatoes & cabbages. We formed a group where we were able to plant tomatoes but did not do well the first time. We decided that we would plant out tomatoes in an odd time i.e. when there would be no supply at that time so we decided to be doing that during the sunny season when other farmers are preparing their farm for maize plantation. By doing so we were able to raise good profit margin here we divided among ourselves.

    Dear lenders,

Since the first payment for Ann Kingori's loan was missed in February this year, we have tried repeatedly to contact Ms. Kingori, the chairman of her former lending group, and the church pastor who signed a recommendation and agreement to mediate in the event of loan default. All three contacts have been unreachable, and their telephone lines are no longer active. Local Volunteer Mentors have also made repeated attempts to establish contact with Ms. Kingori and her community leader, without success.

Ms. Kingori was admitted to Zidisha at a time when we required only a limited number of backup contacts and verification checks for new members. We are not able to determine whether this was a case of deliberate default, or whether Ms. Kingori has suffered some calamity. We have reported Ms. Kingori's information to the local authorities so that they may investigate further.

We are writing off this loan today to reflect our evaluation that our own efforts at recovery are unlikely to yield further results. Should the loan funds be recovered at any time in the future, they will be returned to lenders.

You may contact me with comments or questions about this loan at [email protected].

    Regards,

    Julia Kurnia
    Director, Zidisha

    Hello Ann,
we are eager to hear something from you. It is necessary for you to inform us lenders what is happening! We all trusted you with our money, and hoped to re-lend your repayments to your fellow sisters and brothers in Kenya... So, please give us some response!

    Hello Ann,

Did you have any intention of repaying?
If so, paying back at least a little bit, anything at all, would go a long in showing that you are an earnest borrower.

No worries, I'm actually just lending back to you what you just paid off from the last loan. Hope your tomatoes grow well, it's my favourite food.
