About Me

My name is Jacinta Lango. I am 50 years old and I am a mother of five. I lost my job several years back which forced me to look for an alternative way to support my family. Through my children's encouragement l was able to keep my head high and went back to my village, there I was able to find a way to come up with my own business, and since the people there are always ready to help one of their own get the necessary networks they need to stand on their own two feet, I have managed to provide basic needs for my children. My prayer is that I eventually have the business grow at a larger scale so that I may help them achieve their dreams of becoming people who will make a difference in society.

My Business

My business deals with small scale supply and distribution of fish and fingerlings to small restaurants, among other food stuffs. Fish being white meat and having many recommended nutrients is always in high demand. I chose this business because it works to my favor since I grew up near Lake Victoria. This enabled me to use the already existing networks I had there and put them into use for my business. My typical costs include the payments for the transport, gutting and the actual buying of the fish. The total amount was about 10, 000 shillings but now has increased to 15000ksh. After that I package, weigh and deliver them at a profit and make about 20,500 in return. I was able to increase my stock because of the freezer and increased my profits after getting a large order for exporting omena thanks to the automatic weighing machine i procured as well with time, combining the first loan and my personal efforts as well. It was challenging but I eventually managed to do so.
I managed to find a cheaper fisherman to supply me so that I would increase my revenue and I have worked on a home fish gutting process with my children to help me reduce expenses. This way I will be able to gradually increase the size of my business and never be late for my children's tuition payments.

Loan Proposal

If granted the loan the freezer I will buy at approximately 100$, will enable me to diversify in the kind of fish I will include in my business, the automatic weighing machine costing about 42$ will mean that I will stop renting one from the local hardware and reduce my costs while making the whole process more efficient. All this will enable me to eventually expand the size of my business and manage to support my family with difficulty. My profits will increase with a projection of about 37%

Thank you lenders for helping me reach the loan amount that i applied for, and also for your continued support in my journey with Zidisha. I feel that I am trully blessed and i am very honored to be a part of the zidisha family. This loan will help me initiate my plans for the fish depot, as I will start making the necessary arrangements as soon as i receive the loan. Be blessed once again

Hallo lenders, I was able to finish my loan early because I was fortunate enough to get a big order for omena. The fish part of my business has also been fairing okay, I combined the amount zidisha gave me and worked hard to add on to be able to afford what I needed. I am grateful for your patience and despite the mis communication at first, I thank you for all your support and I pray that you will stand by me through my journey with Zidisha as I also apply for my next loan which I have been fortunate enough to get a bigger loan limit as well. Be blessed

I was given a very large order for fish and omena for export to sudan by a colleague as she could not meet the order at the time she decided to outsource it to me. I would like to use my incoming proceeds from the contract to repay my zidisha loan.

I would like to update my lenders on my progress. My business suffered a temporary downset due to the climate but the situation has started looking favourable and I believe that I will soon increase my loan installments and get back on track. Thank you for your support and concern because it has helped me in this journey.

Due to weather changes the fish business has been temporarily effected. I wish to change the installment because of the current lower sales so as to keep up with my instalment payments.

@Jacinta Lango no hard feelings. Was just giving candid advice. I was not vulgar in any way. Apologies if you got offended. but it is good that you pulled down your 'complaining' post. Though the damage is already done. Sorry village mate.

Kindly delete your comment from my profile. There was no need to get vulgar and go to that extent. We are both grown ups here and limits are necessary. I would never go to someone's profile and do what you did.
      Thank you in advance.

      Mojoe,

You, me and others we all lent money to Zidisha instead of Jacinta,. And when you post this in forum, your posts get censored and never appears online. This sucks

And kills all the purpose of the loan. You still can't do anything, but now you have debt to pay. Something is wrong with Zidisha

Unfortunately there is not much I can do about it. I hope to find means elsewhere...
While I try repay my loan. Maybe the second time around it will be of help to me.
God shall see me through if i maintain a positive attitude

Me, as a lender I can't have that positive attitude. See, only me (not considering others), i loaned 35 USD, so you even got LESS than my own loan to you. So, what i reality happened there is that:
            - Lender (me) have no money
            - Borrower (you) also do not have

Second loan is a bright future yeah, but what you will do now? I really feel so bad for this, and how Zidisha treats you - Kenyan borrowers.
I also can't do anything, but I wish all is ok with you, you will sure go through it!

Very true.but am still grateful for the opportunity because they provide a medium for assistance. It is not easy to get help directly from your end to ours. So despite that I am in this position.... I have not much of a choice. But I thank you for your support and empathy in my predicament.
