About Me

I was born in Githumu,Murang'a county. I attended Wahu primary and Githumu Academy schools and passed on for my high school at Njabini Boys in Nyandarua. I'm the second son in a family of two.
I am in my 2nd year in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology undertaking Bsc. Innovation technology management.
I have been highly motivated by the state of things especially being raised by in the village and would wish to improve of livelihood and of those around me.
I love my home land due to the green stature of the place and the clean water but sadden by the lack of agricultural land due to settlements.
I'm yet to get kids due to my young age(19) but when I do,they sure will be people to look upto.
I love reading much on the current issues especially in the business world and other world affairs on sites such as Wazua.co.ke,jamiiforums.com,howwemadeitinafrica.com

My Business

I practise commercial farming on an acre of leased land, had planted onions but due to the current state of the market,I got to sell my onions at a throw away price. The vegetables on my profile helped to sustain the onion project. I'm looking forward to making some money from the farming and start up a chicken meat and products distribution shop near my campus to get sustainable funding for my farming endeavours for it has proved hard to get the required capital.
For now I intended to plant half an acre of French beans under contract with an exporter.
Farming is lucrative especially if done right and when capital is available.
Costs involved for half an acre are land preparation 2000/-,fertilizers 5800/-,irrigation 9600/- for two months(hiring of pump,petrol and labor weekly),weeding 2000/-,spraying 3000/- and miscellaneous costs/emergency - 5000/- total 27400/- ($274)
Expected harvest about 2 tonnes, each Kg being bought at 60/-, total income 120000/-,minus 28000/- investment. ROI range between 80000/- to 100000/-($800-1000)
I plan on planting on the other half acre after first harvest of the first to reduce running costs.
On my last venture, being new to onion farming ,I made some mistakes and also did bad timing hence there were no profits made. Future profits will be used to open a raw chicken meat and products distributorship that will cost about 120,000/- (Approx $1200)and also contribution to an NGO we aim to start mid next year.

Loan Proposal

For the first loan,I will be able to do a soil analysis so as to know how much nutrients i'll need. Will also help to top up on the amount I have.
I have already ploughed the land which is recommended and will soon start the process of planting for the export company has already visited my farm and given me a go ahead.
I intended to get another loan soon as my credit level increases so as to sustain the project which will need about 1400/- weekly on average.
