About Me

I am a middle aged Zambian dealing in the supply of food stuffs such as beans, kapenta (sardines) and fish.

I am married with 2 children, both boys. The older one is going to 6 years while the younger is 2 going to 3.

My wife is fully involved in business with me and is also on the Zidisha platform in her own business as well selling second hand clothing

My Business

I am a middle aged Zambian dealing in the supply of food stuffs such as beans, kapenta (sardines) and breams.

I am currently focusing on fish which I acquire from the southern part of Zambia particularly Maamba and Sinazongwe and supply to Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces. I get the fish at about K13 per kilogram and supply it at K35 per kilo.

With Zidisha's help, I have been steadily improving both the quality and quantity of my stocks and my business is much better right now.

We have now started smocking the fish as the smocked ones are fetching as much as K70 per bundle which costs roughly K20 to procure.

Loan Proposal

I HAVE BEEN GETTING DRY SARDINES AND FRESH BREAMS FROM THE SOUTHERN PROVINCE FOR SUPPLY MOSTLY ON THE COPPERBELT. WITH MORE DEMAND, I AM NOW SMOCKING (DRYING) THE BREAMS AND RESELLING THEM AT A MUCH HIGHER PROFIT MARGIN ON THE COPPERBELT. THERE IS CURRENTLY A FISH BAN IN MOST PARTS OF ZAMBIA EXCEPT FOR KARIBA AND TANGANYIKA WHICH HAS HELPED MOVE THE PRICES AND DEMAND FOR FISH HIGHER AND I HAVE BEEN CAPITALIZING ON THAT BY SELLING DRY BREAMS AT K70 PER BUNDLE WHICH COSTS ME ABOUT K20 TO PROCURE AT SOURCE (SINAZONGWE).
