About Me

My name is Michael Kihungi Makumi, age 27, a Kenyan citizen, Single with no kids, I come from a family of four boys (no girls - ouch!), I am the second born...with both parents alive and well. I did my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, later on progressed to Secondary school where I cleared and passed my O level exams, I was lucky enough to go through collage where I did a Diploma in Computer Studies. Business wise I have previously been employed by an agricultural firm called Kenya Agricultural Research Institute as a casual laborer working in the computer labs, later on I got greener pastures whereby I got new employment still as a casual laborer at the ministry of health Nakuru County in Kenya, still working in the IT department whereby my duties were to make sure all the IT systems were up and running at all times, send a monthly report at the end of each month to the ministry of health sub county offices, orient new staff to the hospital computerized system etc. things were really working out for me here but as the government of Kenya requirements, after three months casual laborers are laid off so as to apply a new...since after three months of employment, according to Kenya government employment act, after three months it would be termed as permanent employment and this was not the case....I got frustrated and with whatever I had saved and raised while still working there, I decided to open my own business at our local town, I am currently working here now whereby I deal with computer repairs, mobile phone repairs, sales of memory cards, CCTV camera installation, troubleshooting and diagnostics etc. Recently I was fortunate enough to get employed by a medical firm called eastern deanery aids relief program as their health management information systems officer, on a yearly contract basis, it deals with taking car of people living with HIV and aids by providing comprehensive care through out their lives for free. the program is funded by CDC and PEPFAR. It not paying but the satisfaction I get when I contribute to making lives of people living with HIV/AIDS better, its payment enough. throughout this journey of self employment, Zidisha has really come through for me especially by financing my projects to buy gadgets to ease my working conditions and to attain profit margins since now I do not have to hire equipment to do my work, I have my own. as a volunteer mentor, I thank God for Zidisha, and I will always be in dept to all my lenders and those who have always come through for me. I also do love doing charity work, helping the needy and visiting the sick as a Community Healthcare Worker, I do enjoy traveling especially going for game drives at our local national parks, playing mobile phone games (addict hehe) and listening to good meaningful music . thank you

My Business

My business is an all round I.C.T shop that deals with both computer and mobile phone repairs, servicing and maintenance, CCTV Camera installations to interested clients, sale of memory cards, flash disks, mobile phone chargers and batteries etc and recently through the help of Zidisha and my beloved lenders, expansion of my business and introduction of a medium size cyber cafe and computer tutoring classes consisting of four computers, two funded and bought through my generous lenders. Zidisha has really helped me a lot, I can never take it for granted. Through Zidisha, I have also been able to buy a full CCTV installation kit, a cordless drill and two more computers for my cyber cafe and computer tutoring classes. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your continued support, this great level of kindness that you show me and my business ventures will never go unpaid, I thank God for all my dear lenders and also the Zidisha Team and may He bless you all with the blessings of Abraham. Shalom!

Loan Proposal

recently, I ventured into the CCTV camera servillance systems installation business, and with the help of Zidisha loan, I was able to buy a full installation toolkit, previously I used to borrow from a friend and give him some money of which pulled me down since I was not getting 100 percent proceeds from my work, business has been really good and I have been able to save up some money around 8,000 kenyan shillings, at the moment, I would like to purchase a black and decker drill which goes for around 18,000 kenyan shillings. A drill will assist me in provision of quality work, instead of hammering the screws inside the walls while setting up the cameras, which usually ends up messy, a drill would go a long way in neatly securing the screws and the cameras, kindly zidisha family fund my loan of the remaining 10,000 kenyans shillings that I require and as a Zidisha volunteer mentor, I promise to be loyal always. Thank you and God bless, Shalom!
