About Me

I am a single mother of three. I am fifty three years old. Sadly since my parents did not believe in girls education, I was not fortunate enough to get an education. I was married off when i turned 15 years old as it was the culture of our rural village. Some ladies were lucky enough to get good husbands who provided for them but I was not among them. God blessed me enough to have a mother who stood by me and helped me gain the skills i needed to farm and survive with my children as my husband was never present. I learnt through Zidisha from a church friend who helped me with my application since she has a better command of the language and use of computers. I am grateful for zidisha and the opportunities it has provided for the less fortunate who have been turned away by financial institutions and have been looked down on in society.

My Business

I usually farm tomatoes, onions and kales then sell them in my small kiosk near the local bus station. I manage to go home with at least 200 to 500 shillings daily after expenses. The amount varies because my stock usually depends on the climate and my sales are also dependant on the weather. Bad weather usually means that I have less customers. I believe that I will be capable of raising the required 400 weekly repayment fee if my loan gets funded.

Loan Proposal

If given the loan I will be able to send my last born daughter to finish her final year in high school. She is 21 years old but unfortunately due to lack of funds she never finished her high school education. She had to drop out of her final year and thanks to zidisha I believe that I can help her get to her next education level as most of her age mates are already in college and university. I will use 50$ to buy her uniform. 60$ to buy her shoes and stationery. 30$ to buy her personal effects and shopping. 160$ to pay for her first term fees and admission.
