About Me

My name is Doreen Koech, I am born seventh in a family of eight children, my parents are both alive and they stay at home. I began schooling when I was 3 years of age. I was regarded the cleverest and brilliant kid both at home and in school. I finished my primary school and secondary school's certificates, after which I joined college to pursue a higher diploma certificate in Information Technology.

I had finished my secondary school and now I was looking forward to join college for further studies. My parents vowed to pay me school fees but not catering for other needs. This was not a shock to me but I knew I had a difficult time ahead of me. I joined college without any source of income for my upkeep. Fortunately my elder sister had bought a laptop which she was using it in the college. She gave the laptop. I first thought of selling the laptop but I thought it was not a good idea to do so. A brilliant idea came to me that I should help my colleagues use my for internet access and typing, and they give me money in turn. Without wasting time I bought a modem that I used to load internet bundles for browsing. Amazingly, this became a good source of income. I gradually afforded the needs I could not afford before. I started doing savings and I gradually accumulated a lot of money. I used the income that I had saved to buy a desktop computer and a printer. This significantly opened new doors for me to generate more income. At the completion of my college I then started a cybercafe, and this is exactly how I came to start my business.

In my culture, women are the ones who, traditionally, go to the forest to collect firewood. This is their routine work and no man is supposed to fetch firewood. Surprisingly, when women are pregnant and about to deliver, men put their respect and manhood behind and go to collect firewood in the forest which is considered by other cultures or neighboring communities as weird and awkward, but this is unique and very thoughtful to my culture.

My Business

The business of Cybercafe is business of my choice. Currently I do have two computers and I have installed internet services. I also have one photocopying machine which I use for photocopy services. In my cybercafe, I do offer internet services and photocopy services. Customers of different walks of life come to browse, surf, Google for research work, send and download documents. They also photocopy documents using my photocopier machine. Installing internet is not such expensive because I do buy many bundles and then my customers come and browse using bundles depending of the time spent, I charge money depending on the time spent while browsing.

Cybercafe business is on high demand in the area that I stay because it is a college environment. My targeted customers are different people but since I am in a college environment students are the most targeted customers. Students do come and browse for their research work, online applications, scholarships and job applications in the cybercafe. The reason why I chose this business is because I am very experienced in it, and as an Information Technology student, I know very well how to operate and use computers to offer quick and fast internet services for generating income.

In a month my expenditures approximate $110. In my expenditures I buy internet bundles, ink for photocopier machine, and rent. In the same month I make a revenue of $60-$80. I often get 50% income, which is very good. I use my revenue to pay for my home rent where I stay, rent for the cybercafe, pay transport and buy food. Also, I always make sure that I reinvest the remaining revenue in the business.

Loan Proposal

I will use the money that you will give me to purchase five new computer keyboards. This will cost me $50, I will also buy internet bundles that will cost me $25, I will buy ink for my photocopier machine that costs me $15 and I will do computer services and renovations, this will cost me $10. Beyond any reasonable doubt, this will tremendously increase the number of customers coming to my cybercafe to browse or surf because of the efficient and smooth services that I will begin to offer brought by new stock and renovations.

This will significantly increase the quick access of internet services , thus increasing the number of customers coming to surf in the cybercafe. The new keyboards will speed the typing of my customers who had complained of my worn out of computer keyboards.

The new computer keyboards, easy access of internet brought by new cables and internet bundles will magnificently increase the status of my cybercafe, thus bringing more customers. In a month I will make a revenue of $60-$80. I will use the accrued revenue to pay my weekly installment of the loans that I will receive from you. Furthermore, I will use my revenue to pay rent, transport and buy food. Also, I always make sure that I reinvest the remaining revenue in the business. Because I will have done the replacements of computer keyboards, cables and installation, my customers will in turn enjoy browsing in the cybercafe and their cost of browsing will tally the time they use while browsing.

I do anticipate to make an increase of 50%-100% in the business revenues. The loans that I will receive from you will amazingly lead to the expansion of my business and improving my life's status towards achievement and success of 2015 and the future to come.
