My name is David Kibet, I am 30 years old, single, i grew in a place known as Kamoi Village which is one kilometer from Iten Town. i have 2 brothers and three sisters, i was brought up by my mother who is a widow. I am a holder of Advanced Certificate in Business Management holder. After clearing the above, I searched for an opportunity in my hometown iten and got one at Mindililwo Zero Grazing Group as production staff. While working, I saved some cents from my salary which was 2170 KES, which I later resigned in good faith in search for greener pastures and decided to use my savings to venture into farming as a business which I have now been engaged at for close to 10 years. The farming activities that I do are: chicken rearing, horticulture products such as passion fruits, maize, cabbage, sukumawiki, pepper, tomatoes and maize and beans farming, I also keep animals like cows snd sheep. My home place is the home of champions, it has the natural tour sites like view point, kerio valley which has the best tour sites. I am proud of my home place. I had a lot of challenges after secondary education, I used to burn charcoal to assist my single mother and my siblings, it was by God's grace that I got someone who assisted me pay my college fee and that's how I went to college. When I will be blessed with children, I will want then to grow in a godly way, give them good education better than mine, I need them to be successful in life through my support. I love listening to Don't Moen's praise and worship songs and other gospel songs and preaching.
From what I do at my farm,I normally sell the products to the nearest market, shops, and even individuals come for them, like the middlemen come in search for passion fruits, chicken eggs. I also sell the maize and beans to them and also to the cereal companies In Eldoret town. The above business earns me an approximate net of KES 60,000. I am also planning to keep cows for milk production in the near future. I use the profit from my business to support my siblings in secondary and post secondary institutions, I chose this kind of business since I had land which I was given by my parents, I have also managed to rent some acres for farming activities. I learned all these through s successful farmer who is a friend of mine.
Dear Zidisha lenders, from the loan I am applying for, I intend to buy around 200 grafted passion fruits seedlings and F1 Onion Variety. This will help me to expand the farming activities part of my business, it will also bring light to other people in the community. the whole project will cost around $170 for it to be completed.
