About Me

I am 33 years old father of two, married to a 30 years old lady. I did my a-level exams in 1998 and passed with an aggregate of C+. I went t further to study for a Diploma course in pharmaceutical technology and graduated in the year 2002. I am currently employed in a private hospital in Thika town known as Salem Reproductive Health Centre, where I work as the pharmaceutical technologist in charge. My wife and two kids stay at Shanzu in Mombasa where we are in private family business.
We are blessed with a 6year old girl child who has been promoted to standard two next year and a 2year old boy who we anticipate to take to a pre-unit school next year. We are into grocery business holding onto two medium grocery stores at Shanzu Stage-opposite Shanzu Teachers Training College along Mombasa-Malindi road. My wife did her a-level examinations in 2003 and directly went into business with her family members before I married her. The two grocery shops are located on two separate outlets with one having started in 2008 and the other in 2010 respectively. To maximize on production we have introduced a variety of goods and services and are into extreme service provision within the very outlets and all the earnings of these businesses have facilitated their own growth and expansion to date.
My main aim of starting this business was to first, generate employment for my jobless wife then maximize our income/proceeds including my monthly salary from where I work to improve our living standards to the better as a team.

My Business

The grocer’s shops mostly deal in supply of food stuff, baked products, dairy products, detergents, mild insecticides, soft drinks, food additives, utensils and their scrubbers, airtime scratch cards and sim cards for all service providers, mineral drinking water among others.
I have two giant deep freezers, one in each store which is used mostly for preserving and cooling perishable consumer goods such as dairy products, providing ice cream products for consumers, and cooling mineral water and soft drink just to satisfy consumer needs. I also have two dairy land freezers for preserving and cooling ice-cream at the entrance of each store. Moreover, there stands giant double door Coca-Cola coolers for preserving and cooling all Coca-Cola products which are all highly on demand.
I am within an estate and is surrounded by government institutions and schools. My stalls are among the few well stocked supplying basic necessities with high demand and are most preferred outlets by the general customer base thus we maximize on the profits from good business. However, high cost of electricity to run the fridges and lighting, high rental rate, and other amenities are the most challenges that put us on risk of normal operation. Power failures disrupt business causing losses from perishables going bad; though we have taken adequate measures to contain the same.
My monthly costs of running one store range from Kshs. 25000 to Kshs 35,000 in wages, rent electricity, water, operating licenses and other minor expenses. My average sales per day are Kshs. 15000 within which there is profits of around Kshs. 2000. Thus on average my monthly income /sales revenue can stand at Kshs. 60000 less in average expenses of Kshs. 28000 which in actual leave a net profit of 32,000. These businesses are all registered entities by the registrar of business/company names under the name Premier Provision Store Limited with me as the proprietor.

Loan Proposal

Great regards and thanks to Zidisha team for accepting my application and acknowledging to grant me a chance to redeem and improve my business.I promise to abide and do all my plans within my agreement to Zidisha without defaulting.First,i intent to improve my business stocks mainly in products that are very much in demand e.g;sugar, rice, home baking flour, maize flour, sweets, cooking oils and detergents all of which i intent to start whole selling as i gear up to improving the business into a fully fledged wholesale. This i intent to improve with 3/4 of the requested amount with 1/4 going to improving the general outlook of the outlet and expansion of storage space.I believe the in availability of deficits i have been having in stocks will improve my sales volume and this i believe will have a major implication positively to the growth of my business thus i expect good returns on profits. Thanks Zidisha team for this projects.I admit i will still look forward to your team for more tips on good standards of business management as i grow business wise.Bravo.
