My names are joseph kariuki i was born and raise in kakamega county i schooled in the same county both my lower and high school education before i got married and moved to nakuru county for work, Its when i was in nakuru struggling with dailly life hardships that i settled on doing surgarcane farming in nakuru unlike my home county their was no company processing sugar so i couldnt do my produce in large scale because it was hard to transport to my home county for sell.
I had to start seling to local groceries before i bought a wheel barrow and started selling in town, this was five years ago, Through my struggle God helped me increase sells and demand was high i now am almost oppening a half an acre piece of land which will be the first harvest and the market is ready as many people in the market are waiting and calling to know if i have started harvesting, I face challenges especially when the wether is bad affecting my crops and atymes it delays the harvest or lower production, Transportation is also a big issues here and hope this year i will manage to atleaset buy a cart wich will enable me get my produce to farm.
Sugar cane is sweet and nutritious its not asurprice to find someone in the street chewwing sugarcane and sucking the soup out of it, i personally eat sugarcane regulary, it also is good for health as most people say in my home.
I spent approximately 15,000 kes on farm inputs to harvesting which reflects a profit of 62,000 kes after o bumber harvest, My produce i take to market places groceries and after that i sell in retail to local community i targert places with high trafffic of people and employ a boy to go and sell their this has made me increase point of sell and make good money out of the bussiness.
When i start harvesting i use the first amount to buy inputs for next planting season buy food and basic reguirments for my home and the rest is finiished on school fees which is totaly expensive.
If i receive this loan i will use it to facillitate harvesting of the sugar cane if i choose to employ people to harvest it will take a longer period icurring loss of time and delay to custormers i preffer to top up the amount and make it 125 usd and hire a harvester to harvest the produce in a single day and transport to my home store.
This will make things faster and i will start my selling immediately the produce is out of the farm.I expect to make a average profit of 50 percent it may increase depending on production.
