About Me

Am a 41 year old and a father of 3 children.I live in Gatura Wanduhi village with my family where i do small scale farming in poultry, dairy and tea.I completed my primary education in Gatura primary school and secondary education in Mbugiti secondary school. I've been in and off in formal employment for over ten years and now self employed in farming.During employment i committed to save and start a business of my own and i finally succeeded to buy 1.5 acres of land where i built a home for the family and live changed from that moment.I look forward to expand my prospects in dairy and poultry farming through the helping hand of Zidisha. My children are in school and are doing fine. They have varying areas of interest but i encourage them to work hard and smart to realize their future ambitions.Am very much interested in building enterprises that last to be my legacy to the future generations.

My Business

Currently am putting more effort in dairy farming because its the main business in my locality. Our local government is encouraging many of its residents to engage in dairy farming to improve on their livelihood where incentives are being offered including ready market for the milk produced.Today i have 2 dairy cows and 2 calves which produce 20 liters of milk daily.Am hoping to add 2 more cows if finances allow so as to increase production to at least 35 liters per day.

Loan Proposal

My plan is to increase the number of dairy cows from the current 2 to 4.The demand for milk seems to increase and therefore the need to produce more. The current price of a six month heifer is USD 300 the rest of the loan will cater for feeds and also engage in yoghurt making for value addition .I have leased an acre piece of land to plant foliage so as to be self reliant on animal feeds. As time moves on i will add 1 more cow to achieve at least 35 liters of milk per day.The price of milk today is USD 0.35 per liter which is good for the business.
