About Me

Am married woman with five chidren. they are all grown up and are working. My husband is also working as a security guard within mtwapa. Am living with my family here at kikambala which is in mtwapa location.Am a business woman.I only completed primary level and did not go any further because my father never took girls to school in those days..I have been doing business ever since i got married because i could not get a good job according to my educationala and i needed to assit my husband in providing for the famliy.I use my business earnings to buy food for the family.

My Business

My business is a charcoal and firewood selling. The business is good and there is demand because in mtwapa has a high population and most people are middle class people and its expensive to afford the high prices of either cooking gas or kerosene thereby creating a demand for charcoal business. Most people buy from me because i buy in bulky and then sell in small quantities therefore enabling local middle class to be able to afford because my prices are reasonable and fair.Risks are that in security is high and at times thief steal the goods.I make around 2,500 shilings per day and thats 75,000 shillings per month.Dily expenses is about 500 shilings per day and that comes to 15,000 shillings per month.I buy in nwe stock worth 40,000 shillings every month. I make aprofit of 20,000 shillings per month.

    Dear Lenders,

I was able to speak with Ms. Mohamed's daughter just now. She told me that Ms. Mohamed is out of the hospital, but is still very ill. The family is aware of her loan and they will pay, but are concentrating on her ill health right now. I told her daughter to keep us informed of her situation, and sent her the well-wishes of the entire Zidisha community.

    Dear Lenders,

Today I called Ms. Mohamed to see if she was able to reschedule her loan, or if she had any questions about doing so. Her son answered and told me she was at the hospital, because she has been feeling ill this week. I told him to let us know her condition, so we know if she is ok.

I will follow up with her again next week and let you know if she has recovered. Ms. Mohamed- all of us at Zidisha wish you a quick recovery from your illness!

    Dear Lenders,

I was able to contact Ms. Mohamed today, and wanted to update you on her situation. When I called, she could not speak English well, and passed the phone to her daughter. Her daughter explained to me that she has been ill, but she knows she needs to pay. We spoke about her options going forward from here.

I will make sure to update you the next time I hear from Ms. Mohamed.
    Best,
    Bayle, Zidisha Intern
