I phoned Mercy twice today 12.22pm but she did not pick my calls. I then phoned her Community leader, Pastor Harvex, but his number does not work or is call forwarded. I will try Mercy later in the week.

Thank you for checking, Samuel. That is very good of you.

I made this loan when I was new (and foolish) at Zidisha.
Since then I have learned that any loan that says, "This loan application was posted on behalf of _______ by alfred in mtwapa, Kenya. " will be a bad loan and money thrown away.
I think "alfred" posted loans for people who are not computer literate, or who had not intention of repaying. (Zidisha has tried to fix the computer literacy problem with the facebook requirement. )

Thanks for your attempts to collect this deadbeat debt.

      Hi Samuel,

Have you had any more contact? We'd like to see some repayments from Mercy (and/or hear what's wrong with her).

      Thanks,
      Astrid

    Hi Mercy Mwatsa,
Your lenders would like to hear from you.
    How are things going?

Zidisha hasn't tried to contact you, but your lenders who gave you money in good faith of being repaid would like to hear from you.
    Thank you.
    Marvin

To InnerpreneurTrader -- I contacted Zidisha on 5 July to inquire of this borrower's situation. I received this reply on 7 July:
"After attempts in contacting her directly and through the Community Leader who signed her recommendation letter, we asked for assistance to one of our Volunteer Mentors operating in Mtwapa and we are now waiting for updates about her current situation."
I hope that the Zidisha mentor on the ground can locate her and provide information.

I agree w/you, that ideally good communication should occur. Unfortunately, some borrowers may have circumstances that are not conducive to that end.
As a lender I try to keep an open mind and recognize that there are risks involved in lending, and so lend accordingly.
    Marvin (fellow Zidisha lender)
