My name is Emily Sifuna, I am a sinlge mother of two children. I was married to james Okok, a who was a secondary school teacher. My husband passed on in a road accident along Kisumu Busia road. I went to Ngina primary school and later proceeded to Ngina secondary school. I did not join college because my parents could not afford to take me there.
After the death of my husband who was the soul bread winner in my family. i needed to take care of my young family but had no source of income. I opened a small shop in my village but it did not work, and so had to close it down. I turned to farming just growing vegetables and selling to my villager mates. it turned out to be a very viable business and so I decided to capitalize on the farming. with farming I have been able to pay school fees for my kids and take care of my families daily expenses comfortably
I come from the Bukusu community that lives in western Kenya, our most unique culture is traditional male circumcision done after every two years.
my young girls want to be doctors when they grow big,I really try to work hard to secure a better future for them by ensuring the get the best education.
during my free time, i join my youth group members for singing and dancing.. I am social and like networking to learn new things.
I am an upcoming farmer. I grow vegetables in my farm that I sell to my fellow villagers and the nearby local market.
these goods are important because people will consume vegetables always as part of their meal .
I choose to do farming after after my retail shop failed to pick up. I have so far noticed farming is very profitable compared to any other business.
my monthly expenses are $50 and my revenues average are $200. I use my profits to take care of my young family, pay fees for my kids and reinvest in my business.
I am so grateful for the first loan,it was indeed helpful as I can now irrigate my farm. I would wish to buy a knapsack spray for use in my farm as I believe these will help me eradicate pests and therefor my crops will grow more healthy and fetch better prices in the market and ultimately increase my revenue.
